Could be. It certainly doesn't help the situation.
I'm wondering, reading between the lines, if he's (or agent to be specific) had contact with a club higher up who will take a punt on him but don't want to pay a fee. Otherwise why would he only sign for anyone for 6 months.
Maybe said club has a decent left back we can do a swap deal with
What other feasible explanation is there?

Why don't you think Oates is a striker?

Not a duff buy, unfortunate injury and thereafter poorly utilised...

He was a duff buy dress it up as much as you want it was a duff buy either by clough or whoever bought him
Johnson is not the problem though ,does that make it clearer for you

Johnson has been the biggest white elephant signing in years.

Yes, there would be 3 days left of the window, but we all know how thats gone in the past, waiting for players who have had months to decide to come here and then didn't.

The duff buy is very frustrating . The season before we signed him we created the most goal scoring chances in our league but scored nowhere near enough . Johnson scored the highest percentage of goals from chances created in our league . Seems a good match .
We are led to believe that our approach to signing players is very thorough now and we look closely at a players training levels , attitude , team player will he fit in , is he a mardy bugger and so on . It does seem like someone is not doing their job correctly . Not sure if its the player or recruitment not fulfilling the promises made in transfer negotiations

And it’s not Johnson , DJ has scored the goals for Walsall, as we all know
You could play Swan on one wing. He is fast, can pass, control, and cross
Who does the other wing ?
Akins - can cross but slow
Oates - Other than Nov/Jan last season, seems to now not be able to control/pass/control ball
Gordon - On wing could be an answer
Bowery - Maybe
4-3-3 with DJ
Or
5-3-2
Other Johnson and Macca RWB/LWB
Maris Clarke Reed
DJ and one other
If he stays I think DJ could score us some goals, depends on NC set up
