£4.81 is national minimum wage for under 18s.
When I worked in the NHS I had to pay to park in the hospital car park. I think they still do.HitchcocksShins wrote:Love it when "on-site parking" is part of the benefits of a job. Proper scraping that barrel.
No mention of if it's free or not, though

Jamie wrote:Clearly jobs aimed at youngsters, students etc. Like all lower end catering / serving roles. When I was 16/17/18 and at WNC, at times I had 3 part time jobs, equally as glamorous as this for the going wage at the time which was bugger all. It got me beer and fag money, petrol in my car, paid for away trips and gave me some income while 'studying' and living at home.
If there are better options and the club is paying below market value,, they won't fill the roles, simple as that. It's supply and demand. It's ridiculous to mock the club for paying the national minimum wage when a solid percentage of jobs are min wage and where without the minimum wage many employers would pay less. Living wage... what the hell is a living wage for a 16 Yr old 6th former anyway?
If you do a full time (40 hr/pw) job on minimum wage, its a smidge under 20k a year!!! Not many years ago it was a good chunk less.
Some very judgy comments in this thread from people who have no doubt themselves had to do what it took to get some income at times. This is clearly a part time, casual job for a bit of extra spends,, not a career and not a job that requires any specialist skills.
Before I could drive, I got lifts, relied on my parents, the bus etc to get to part time jobs. I'd quite happily drive my kids to do a crap part time job at 16 so they could earn some money, get work and life skills and some independence.
It's not exploitative it's economics, business and casual part time labour. Its always been like this and to suddenly expect MTFC to pay double, as one said, £38k pa pro rata no less, to serve at a food till is mental.
The sentiment in this post is indicative of the county at the moment. Ridiculously judgmental, unrealistic demands and a 'im better than that' attudue... if you can do better, great, but if £20k a year, pro rata, isn't enough to pass pies over a counter then the country really is done for.

FarnieStag wrote:For goodness sake, Jamie and Geoff are both spot on. It's not a career role, it's a bit of extra spends. Nobody is being forced to do it.
If small businesses had to pay £20 ph as some on here seem to want then there would be very few businesses around. You'd have to kiss goodbye to every pub, butcher, Baker and small independent shop.
