Hi,
I think after three games you must have come to the same conclusion as I and many other supporters have, that being, you can't fill your team with "Jacks of all trades". You do need specialists in the spine of the team, you know that better than anyone.
Goalkeeper - sorted.
Centre-back - half way there, we still need a mobile central defender.
Striker - we again are halfway there but we need another experienced body to help and guide Oates.
The two lads on loan from Nottingham Forest have potential but neither are the finished article.
The supporters have excelled themselves regarding season ticket sales, showing great faith in you and the club. The side is at least a centre back short, Hawkins can go back up top and we would be,a better side.
Putting square pegs in round holes has delivered 2 sending offs at centre-back in four first team fixtures.
Not good enough for a team fancied for a top three spot.

We’re only gonna get one more incoming unless there are outgoings/injuries. I’d be happy with a striker or a defender.
Your point about the Forest lads, I think they’ve looked more than adequate in the games so far. And the only way they’re going to become the finished article as you say, is by playing more games, that is what they’re here for.
We’ve outshot the opposition in every game so far, things are looking promising as far as I’m concerned.

I would prefer it to be a centre half and let Hawkins play up front. I agree with you about the Forest youngsters.

Yes, most certainly.
Two makeshift centre backs sent off in the last four games, I include the play off final, plus we have not tested the opposition goalkeepers nearly enough, shot count means nothing if you hit the stand.
To be fair Bobby, wouldn't it be better scoring goals now rather than waiting until January to try and rescue the situation.

Its early doors yet...but pretty obvious to everyone that we need another experienced defender. We are looking very vulnerable at the back last night especially on the wings, but on the other side of the coin Derby were pretty quick on the break , not many teams like that in League 2..a lot depends upon Perch reaching match fitness after having a poor pre season fitness wise

This is a very valid point about the centre back position or wing back position being filled by "Strikers" when all it is being done for is to shoehorn in Akins and Bowery into the starting eleven. Its getting beyond a joke now. At least its a bonus Bowery wont be there for next game but you guarantee Akins will be. If a back three system starting 11 could be Pym Gordon Hewitt OToole Harbottle Macca Maris Clarke Boateng Hawkins Oates with five decent subs being used this team will win league 2 games

Well my message to Nigel is ...keep up the good work you’ve turned the club around since the dark days of two seasons ago under the Coughlan era...gates are up with more fans getting on board ..remember we have a limited Budget so cant pay ridiculous wages at this level .... picking the bones out a season after 3 competitive games is just plain ridiculous
At least wait until October and then have a go.

Has anyone asked him yet why he doesn't seem to want to strengthen the defence with actual defenders? It would be interesting to hear his response. None of us are managers, except on a Playstation, so we aren't qualified and he did give us that fabulous record breaking run to the play off final but it would be nice to hear why he stubbornly persists with his jack of all trades approach.
Or maybe he will just turn around and say "I gave you a fabulous record breaking run to the play off final!" to which I'm sure the response on here would be a justified: well if you had bought and put defenders in defence we might have got promotion via the final or even automatically.
We thought it would be sorted for this season but it appears the lesson wasn't learned but then again the season has only just started so maybe somehow it will bring us success?

I think it’s clear as far we need a new CB and that hawkins and bowery don’t live there, to not get a decent defender in and keep it as it would be spectacularly bad management.
However, i’m more than sure if we know there’s a problem at CB then so does nigel and i’m sure he’ll sort it.

Only three teams have had more shots on target than us in the league so far.

Ask Martin to put one on here. It will of course need a health warning preceding it.

We're playing Bowery at centre half after 2 and a half games. Think he may have a point.

For half a game, in a cup game, when other players were being rested and the league being prioritised.

Maybe Bowery last night was an experiment. To be fair our proper centre half was beaten by pace and scored an own goal.
