Once again lockdown boredom has struck, this one is about your most overrated Mansfield 11? Now I’m thinking overrated as in the player had a big repuatation before he came and was a let down or maybe there’s a few players that got a lot of hype when they were here but you just could not understand why?
Here’s mine:
Kevin Pilkington
Scott Gardner Luke Foster Steve Foster Daryl Westlake
Matt Hamshaw Tyrone Thompson Adam Chapman Craig Dobson (remember him?)
Matt Tipton Daryl Clare
Thoughts? Feel free to add someone that you think I’ve missed?

Adam Chapman was really good when we signed him in the conference, he scored some right goals. He wasnt very good in the league though, not sure if he was ever overrated just not up to league football

I always thought Adam Chapman would have played at a HIGHER level.

I was at school with Steve Foster and he was a fantastic player. Unfortunately when he came here it was at the wrong end of his career and with one of the worst teams I’ve seen here. If people assumed we were getting Fozzy at his best, they weren’t well informed.

Adam Rundle's dad insisted his son was destined for the premiership and we were lucky to be part of his learning curve .

Centre Half - Alan Walker? Sure he came to us late 90's? with a decent reputation and was garbage
Forward - Paul McLaughlin, Darryl Clare (although he was never given a fair crack at it), Neil Whatmore (Probably past it when he came to us)

Not sure if this counts because it was a big rep in the youth leagues, but what about Danny Mitchley?
Another I'm not sure counts because he was played out of position by one manager and not played at all by the next one but Paul Anderson?

Steve Whitworth 80 appearances for Stags.
With 7 England Caps to his name, there was no wonder we failed to qualify for the Major Tournaments.

No. He was a decent player and deserved many mam of the match accolades but lots of our fans thought he was the non league Cafu. Decent non league full back but not as good as many perceived = over rated..
