Probably deserved it’s own thread.
I thought we were bringing players in ?
How does this strengthen us ?
If Bobby gets injured again, the back up isn’t ready.
Is this a balancing of books ?

Usually a club has a designated number one and number two, with wages to match. I'm guessing Logan and Olejnik are both on a number one keepers wage, especially with Logan doing coaching too (we now don't have a goalkeeper coach), so it frees up a wage to strengthen other areas. Also as I mentioned on another thread, and I think GC has said himself, neither of the keepers have really nailed down the number one spot so he may be looking at bringing in a new keeper.

Conrad’s wage being freed up helps us to bring in another new player, whether that be a new outfield player or a better keeper.

Bet some on here are absolutely buzzing.
Will stone be backup now to olejnik, or a new keeper brought in on loan?
Best of luck Conrad.

Strange as I've wanted rid of him for two years and now he has gone at the time I least wanted him to leave.

He's been fantastic for us, I will miss him. In my opinion he's better than Olejnik (though obviously the hate-mob will disagree). Good luck Conrad

Logan has been a great shot stopper over the years but I think it’s the right time for him to move on. I think his head has not been in it this season, probably had enough of the needless abuse he constantly gets online and during matches and it has shown with his attitude.

Good player, but always a rush of blood to head in big games, Luton away, Lincoln home and Newport in play offs at home.

Conrad Logan is a very good keeper for League 2 and did not deserve to be dropped.
Forest Green Rovers is a strange team for him to go to though as Conrad loves nothing more than a big boot down the pitch and FGR like to play from the back. Conrad's distribution with his feet has been very good this season though and much better than Bobby.
We only needed one first team keeper as we have Aidan Stone as a good back up. I can therefore understand why GC has decided to let a keeper go.

I can't pretend to be disappointed by this news as I'm really not.
For every great save, he'd not come off his line or make a daft decision which cost us dearly at times - Bobby is clearly a better keeper
Interesting to see what we do with a keeper backup though

We have Aidan Stone as back up. We can always call Conrad back in case of an emergency.

Conrad has been made scapegoat for our bad defending and has proven beyond doubt he saves more than he concedes, he's no worse than Oliejnek, in fact he's been the better keeper this season. Some people just focus on his mistakes and magically forget the outstanding saves which have kept us in games on countless occasions.
Not too many people on here are remembering his saves and overall commitment to the club - even during this season, if it wasn't for him out points tally would be much less than it is now.
Thanks Conrad and I wish you well. I'm sure you won't have to put up with such vicious stuff written about you and spoken about you elsewhere.
PS - Lets not forget The Stagsnet authorities on everything football thought you were the reason our defence was playing so poorly, they'd got no confidence in you, blah, blah, blah - how wrong were they

Very good shot stopper, very good kicker, awful at commanding his box though. Defenders never had any confidence in him, and his catching off the line was shambolic.

Doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.
I hope GC has another goalkeeper lined up.
Logan, despite his faults, has been our best keeper this season.
Forest Green obviously see something in him.

Great post Pemill.
I'm one of the posters who clearly doesn't think Bobby is the better keeper but I suppose I just don't get it.
Good luck Conrad I hope you do well.

Im surprised about this.
No doubt i think he made a few clangers at the start of the season but hes gradually got better as the season moved on. Hes been the better keeper in my eyes this season since Bobbys returned to training.
Mellis will be next i think !

Would definitely agree he's been better this season so he should have been kept and playing until the end of the season. In the long term he's not a promotion winning keeper IMO.

Could be on a big wage for all we know.
Surely someone on here has seen his pay slip?
