Sorry Yorky but are you suggesting we should give up and take our foot off the pedal thus writing this season off and giving in?
I learned a lesson in life at the age of ten when taking part in a swimming championship. With a full half a length to go, I thought I was miles behind and gave up coasting to the end of the race. In reality I only lost by a fingertip despite giving in. That taught me that it isn't over until it's over and Dempster and the boys should just get their heads down and keep trying.
To write the season off at this point is a losers mentality and would be inexcusable. You can't just turn momentum on and off, it has to be built and maintained or you just lose your way. Just get behind them and help to push them along.
I think you have misunderstood Yorky's comment. If I've read it right he is saying that a refusal by the board and owners to accept they have made a poor and wrong managerial appointment of John Dempster is effectively writing off the season as Yorky, like many of us, do not believe it is possible under JDs leadership.

Thanks Chris, that isn't the way I read it but accept it could be read both ways. Maybe Yorky would like to clarify.
It is opinion if the season is being written off by sticking with Dempster or if in fact it would be written off by sacking him. A new man would still have to hit the ground running and I feel promotion with someone new at the helm would be all but impossible. We have a better chance by sticking with the current incumbent so that's what we should do. If he fails, or is well short of a chance come Easter, that would be a better time to make the change. The new man would have time to look at the squad and rebuild over the summer.

I admit when Pearce scored that winner at Grimsby I thought maybe, just maybe we might turn a corner. Then I look at our stats at home on Tuesday, second string or not, 35% possession at home and no direction from the manager on the touchline brought me back down to earth, and I realised we probably haven’t turned a corner and that it was more a jammy goal at the back of another poor performance.

What you are describing couldnt be further from the truth about tuesday nights match against Crewe. Yes the possession stats are right but dont reflect the truth. Crewe got very lucky to catch oilrig out at the near post with their goal. Whilst Jimmys goal started out from a defensive error it was a quality finish not lucky in any way. On a different day we could have kept a clean sheet and won four nil. Jimmy could have scored three and cook should also have scored. Crewe had more possession but the quality of final pass came from young smith who for me was MOM.

If it works or not its never going to be a nobody like you to make a key decision about when to change manager or why. Its the Radfords and the board youth. We all want to win ffotball matches, we won the last one and we will win the next. Whats gone before cannot be changed and it was crap at best but its improving and momentum can be achieved if you get behind the team you negative moaning person. Take you dog to Donny if you cant get behind our team. Changing the manager now would be a bigger gamble that giving JD more time. He is still learning and its a steep curve but it not impossible to improve. We will beat Oldham, FGR will be a different challenge altogether one game at a time
