That’s football David!!

Postby Old amber » Wed May 15, 2019 7:45 pm

After the Steve Evans circus... we appointed David .. ok he didn’t get a very good start and to be fair he had a few crucial injuries in the camp, he also made some mistakes one for me was letting Timi elsnik go back to derby and then on loan to Northampton, only to sign the luxury that is gorge grant... and why not try one of the youngsters.. but no he wasn’t bold enough. He stuck with the ever green Danny Rose, footballs all about taking gambles... for me he wasn’t gutsy enough
I liked the bloke he was committed to his job (unlike his predecessor) good luck David and thanks for giving us some of the best football seen at field mill (one call) for many a year.. but alas it just wasn’t good enough ...but that football David.

Time to move on now. We've discussed where it went wrong for weeks. Now it's time for positivity and to get behind the team and JD for another push next season

Thanks David. You gave us genuine progress and some brilliant football which, sadly, ran out of steam after Good Friday. You have conducted yourself professionally and you have been a true gentleman throughout your time at the Wonk.

Good luck for the future, Flicker.

Completely agree.

Very likeable bloke from the side we as fans have seen, we all wanted him to succeed and I feel he’s brought a real connection back between players and fans.

Even though we fell short I have thoroughly enjoyed this season and for that we must thank him.

Wish him all the best.

Not naive in the slightest. After the mess that was Evans he progressed us in our style of football, dressing-room atmosphere, general pleasantness as a club and bridged the gap between players and fans which was damaged by the previous regime. He started badly, but recovered really well, before tailing off. The stick he got was harsh and, as mentioned above, he was a likeable bloke who put in a lot of hard work. Just listen to Demps paying homage to him in the first breath of his interview. He talks about how supportive Flicker was of the other staff members and academy team. Give the bloke some credit and put away your knives for 2 minutes. Some of you have got what you want and of course we will support Demps all the way, but dish out the credit where it's due, just as you do with the criticism.

I know close season can be boring but if the only subject is going to be Flitcroft then god help us. The subject has been done to death already. Move on.

If Flitcroft will be the only subject I think I will, go and do a bit of trolling on other boards, will be far more entertaining. I'll pop back when we've signed someone and catch up on the; "if Flitcroft was here we would have signed Messi thread".

Thank you Flitcroft for taking us from 5th to 4th!

He did seem like a decent bloke though so I hope he does well in the future.

Strange thing with Flitcroft is that had he drawn at MK he would still have been here and the plans agreed with JR would have carried on possibly to fruition.
Very decent guy and will hopefully look back on his time with Stags as a happy one overall.

wish him well.

How is it? We missed out by a goal in the last game of the season and by 1 place. Anything more than 'tailing off' would be an exaggeration.

A nice humble guy, you could see that

Should get another job soon enough I'd imagine - probably something more appropriate like the conference.

In the last 10 games of the year we picked up 12 points from a possible 30. From the position we were in to how we ended, you can say 'tailed off' is an incredibly mild assessment.
