The wrap around style probably costs a lot more than this design, but still looks much better than the rubbish view we see now so well done JR!!!

This was looked at years ago but you need the council to be on board with you so you can compulsory buy the houses and clearly they are not, JR had agreed to move his design to the bus station for the good of the town but was let down again by the council and they opted for another developer who had not even raised the money to start the project

Looks great, but I don't understand how it makes us money, if we've built it for Hilton? Surely everyone that rents a room, the money goes to them? So do we get money from them leasing the site each year, or do we own the hotel, and make money from it that way? Sorry if it's been mentioned already. I do love it, but was just wondering how it made the club money?

My understanding is we build (or JR) builds the hotel then Hilton Hamptons then pay a leasehold or franchise cost per year to the stags

I think Jr will have costed it out and know it makes financial sense.

What I love about Stagsnet is that when Haslam was leading everyone a merry dance this board used to reverberate to the sound of 'its his club he can do what he wants with it'. Yet when JR unveils any plans to do anything its 'BUT HOW DOES IT BENEFIT THE CLUB??!!??!'

They will get a lease and pay rent to the land owner, Travelodge for example pay 5000 a room per annum to landlords on some smaller units (circa 50 rooms) in towns like Pembroke. With Hilton they would obviously pay quite a bit more due to the fit out being more substantial. 100 rooms at say 8k a room per annum is a substabtial revenue but you have a substantial build and fit out cost to take into account. If developing themselves via Steve, they should be hopeful of a 8% yield after build cost. With the level of outlay you would anticipate the hotel would be in a 20 year plus lease. That model is only if JR or MTFC were the landlord and owned the freehold. It would be different if it was a joint venture but that would be strange as you wouldn't want Hilton owning the land it's on as it would restrict future development at Field Mill

I remember the day John Batchelor needed a police escort out of the away stand at Macclesfield......

A very lucky guy that day.

Thanks to the posters who clarified how this makes the club money, anything that does that is a big plus in my book, we don't of course own the ground yet do we though? 2019 is the last payment to Dracula isn't it? So assume building work cant start until that payment is made? Anyway, it says it will take 6-8 months until a decision is made, so it will be 2019 anyway.
Are we have a Goodbye To the Fleecing Cheating Banana Party when the last payment is made?

Does Has**m have any right to block this ?
I assume not with the Radfords ready to build asap ?

If I recall correctly: the ground is registered in one of John Radford's company's names. However if he defaults on the repayments, then it reverts back to Haslam. So JR can do what he likes and (within the terms of the agreement - and this bit might be critical, but I am assuming that JR has done due diligence in that regard then) - once he has repaid the full payment, then there is no come-back from Haslam.
Of greater interest might be what the restrictions are for redeveloping the Quarry lane stand after the Hotel is built? Obviously building a bigger stand might impact on the light & space of the hotel ......... but I am sure that there are other parts of the stadium that could be developed. ;)

Just seeing that old footage made me realise what a fantastic situation we are in right now.The hotel looks great and hopefully it will go ahead.Unless the council drag their heels. No reason for that to happen is there?
