Air time on EMT

Postby pemill » Mon Mar 04, 2024 12:44 pm

My best guess is 3-4 minutes covering Florist/Derby, particularly as Forest were hard done by apparently, a bit like Newport :D
1-2 minutes Leicester
At least a minute on Counteh, showing a waterlogged pitch
Brief mention of Stags + show the goal 30 seconds
onto the ice hockey and maybe basketball.

30 years ago when the only place to see the goals back was on local TV news, this really mattered. I spent years carefully recording all the clips and saving them.

With coverage now available online, or even on the EFL highlights show on TV, why does it matter?
You can watch the entire match back for free, at any time you like. You can watch 2 minute highlights pakage, 10 minute highlights package, the goals from different angles, etc etc.

I believe it does matter, everything you mentioned above is there if you go looking for it, your preaching to the converted, EMT is in your face wether you look for it or not, if a mention on the news puts one more bum on a seat it matters.

I live in Lincolnshire, Calendar is pretty good mentioning the Stags particularly this season on a good run.

Good points well made.

Our lack of recognition on EMT really boils my pee. Let's not forget too, we ceased to exist for 5 years while we were in the BSP. No such treatment for Notts County.

You ought to see the coverage league 2 teams get on north-west tonight

I’ve always been mildly intrigued as to why we feature on calendar in the first place given we don’t fall into their region.

Large parts of the Mansfield district fall into the YTV area. Back in the days of analog TV it was really bloody annoying.

The issue isn't whether there is a mention. There is always a mention on East Midlands Tonight. The issue is whether they show build up to the goals, and how many seconds of action.

I get that Martin but seriously Calendar do give more air time to the stags than Mansfield’s “local” station, I think what the club as done deserves a little more recognition than its getting. The main thing is though we know and appreciate don't we, COYS.

Indeed. I spent a lot of money in about 1988 getting a huge aerial put on my grandad's roof so he could get Central News, as well as Calendar. It was the difference in those days sometimes between getting some footage or not getting footage.

Calendar has always covered Mansfield as much as Central News and East Midlands Tonight. From what I've seen in the last year or so, it is not true that Calendar gives more air time than East Midlands Tonight

You're trying to watch the goals on your washing machine by the look of it.
I backed my car into a cop car the other day, he just drove off, sometimes life's okay...

Always been a disparity on which region covers what.

On the BBC East Midlands today clearly covers this area as it is broadcast from Nottingham. Sadly they are totally obsessed with Forest. Even when Leicester were in the Prem and Forest a league lower, that was the case.

The alternative BBC North which for some reason I get on an aerial connection doesn't mention us at all and only drops as far as Chesterfield.

On ITV , annoyingly on Sky we get Calendar as the default option. We do get a mention but it seems to be largely about bloody Hull.
Its a pity Sky don't reflect this and change it to Central News, again broadcast from Nottingham. I don't know why, maybe to do with transmitters?

I don't often bother watching EMT, but last time I saw the Sport section it featured quite a bit on the Stags.

No, and on tonight's show the Stags had equal share with Leicester and Derby, with all goals featured.
