Their whole team doesn’t score goals.

The striking thing for me on those stats is that he has consistently played a lot of football. He hasn’t been given that amount of game time for nothing and it tends to show a player popular with whoever has been picking the teams.

Very similar players think they will stifle each others play if played together… Atkins and either Nichols or DkD for me unless we sign another ???

I think the bit that interests me is how he fits into a Clough system. Bluntly, this management seem to either click with a player and bring the best out of them or not at all. They have wanted him for a, while so I presume he will replace Akins up front releasing him to become a utility player. If that works out then it is a great signing, but that is a, big if
We didn't think Reid was prolific for us but in the right system he has been dynamite so fingers crossed for Nichols

Could play them as a 3 up front, Akins on right and DKD on left?
Tom Nichols (CF) - [Gillingham - Mansfield] - Undisclosed
On the one hand, Nichols is one of the few genuine ‘deep-lying forwards’ to exist and survive in the modern EFL. Teddy Sheringham for the lower league crowd. Clever movement, excellent football IQ and the deft touch to knit things together in the final third. Something we can all get behind.
On the other hand, with Davis Keillor-Dunn already occupying the ‘diminutive, withdrawn striker’ role, it’s not instantly obvious whether Nichols’ value will expose itself. A goalscorer he is not: the only time he’s ever scored more than 10 non-penalty goals in a season was 2014/15. Perhaps he could play at the tip of a diamond, with Keillor-Dunn plus one? We shall see.
VERDICT: NOT AN OBVIOUS NEED
