Alfie Kilgour

Postby Chrisuknottm » Sun Jan 07, 2024 9:00 am

Sorry for starting a new thread but I can't find the original injury thread.

People were talking today that he has torn his ACL in a holiday accident on top of the achilles injury.

Any truth to that from anyone much closer to the club than me?

Clough addressed this on Wednesday:

On Alfie Kilgour, Nigel Clough said (03Jan2024):
"He's coming on. It will be an all-season job as we thought it would. We're looking forward to seeing him in pre-season.
"As soon as he can do anything meaningful, he'll be back here at RH Academy working, but he can't do anything at the moment so he's just doing his gym work."
"Four points clear as Lincoln are McCaffreyised", CHAD headline, April 1975

What the hell is wrong with our fan base ? We are having our best season in years and the fans are still on a self destruct mindset.
We now have rumours of one player injuring himself on holiday, another supposedly had a spat with Clough, and then people suggesting Clough has fallen out with the fans because he spent half the game on the other side of the pitch and didn't shake hands with any of them when he came out for the 2nd half.
If he reads half the garbage posted on here then I don't blame him. He was probably expecting abuse at being 1-0 down.
There is no wonder our away performances are better than at home. The atmosphere at home is awful at times. When the players are having a bad day it is our job to get behind them and lift their performance, not get on their backs and abuse the management team.

Even if the rumours about Kilgour and Macdonald are true, does it really do any good to be splashing them all over forums and social media ?

Actually it doesn't because my question , and it was simply a question, was that has he now torn his ACL in addition to the achilles injury. Just genuine concern for a great player within our club

Why ? Because I don't like people spreading rumours that undermine the club when we are in the best position in decades ?
Where has the Kilgour information come from ? Can anybody confirm it is true ? I was told the same thing yesterday but didn't post it on here because it is currently just gossip.
The people who need to chill out are those who moan and stamp their feet after every match we don't win. Yes we all want to see our club be successful but get a bit of perspective and look at what else is happening in the world. Stags losing a football match is not a matter of life and death.

I suppose that depends on when the injury occurred (presuming the rumour is true). Just because we haven’t heard about it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen weeks ago.

There will always be speculation but we do seem good at burying news about serious injuries until the time is right.
