The manager prior to Duff (Russell Martin who is now at Southampton) was employed based on possession and "successful pass completion" stats.
He was very much of the Luke Williams ilk.... they couldn't defend at all and kept making silly mistakes at the back to gift the other team goals.
He started out exactly the same with Southampton once he left to go there too, but they now seem to have got the balance right when out of possession, and they have since gone on a bit of a run of victories....but they do have a big budget and should rightly be up there, they brought in millions from player sales alone.
Swansea will be a different kettle of fish, and they aren't a big club with big scope to make substantial changes in that division - they punch above their weight when they do well.
Williams has no plan B at all, I can't see him doing that well where others before him haven't either. He comes across as a really nice and honest bloke though, so would like to see him succeed....preferably not with a Welsh club or County though
To quote Adam Murray - "There's possession football, and there's possession without a purpose football"
Against the better sides, Notts are entirely the latter when they are forced backwards. Can't defend for toffee either as they rely on having the ball so much that they feel they don't need to.
Will watch how all this unfolds with interest.
