Yep.

He’s repeatedly gone back in for players that took us ages to get, although admittedly none were as close as Naylor. It’s entirely possibly that Cloughs relationship with Naylor is fine and it’s the agent that he doesn’t get along with.

I don't know whether we were in for him or not but it actually makes a bit of sense for him to go there. For most players we're the better move, but Naylor moving to Chesterfield isn't too surprising. Speight doesn't like us at all, which was clear from the other year, that's not going to miraculously change and getting him to go Chesterfield spites us massively. It also wouldn't be that hard for him to sell it to Naylor. Yes he's dropping a level, but he was already dropping one to play for us, location seems the most important factor to him. We were going to play him in defence, where he would be fighting against a fan favourite in Kilgour, and Baily Cargill, a very high quality player that potentially suits the left side of defence better than Naylor. On the other hand he walks into Chesterfields midfield with ease, his preferred position.

Have seen it announced in the last hour that Wigan have been taken over, so I think that means that if Naylor and the other players get paid by Friday then they are still under contract and can’t walk out on a free meaning that anyone would need to pay a fee. Don’t know if anyone can confirm this?

Tom is a good player and would have been a very welcome addition.

The main positive of him going there is that he's not joining a club in our division and so won't be in direct competition.

Chesterfield were/are able to somehow offer a longer deal on more money that clubs in League Two could or would match. Clearly pushing the boat out to get out of the National League this time around.
