Well after 5 shots on target in the last 4 games we’ve had 27 shots today. Scored 4, hit the post, hit the bar, missed three or four one on ones. Possibly the best we’ve looked going forward all season, and it’s no surprise that has come with a return to the diamond formation which worked so well the last two seasons but has barely been used this. Of course Crawley were abysmal at the back but it’s nice to see some chances created after the last few weeks.

Not convinced we’ll use that formation going forward as we looked quite open but we will see. Some excellent individual performances, the formation suits DKD down to the ground but two or three times he got pelters from Clough for his defensive work. He was so creative today that he nearly even set up a goal for Telford.

Surprise surprise 4 4 2 and we look like a team… stubbornness has cost us points this season

Also having a full team of players out injured doesn't help

Some good performances today, DKD, Akins, Oates all gave us a real threat but for me the driving force was Clarke and it was really noticeable when he went off. Bowery looked comfortable at LB, maybe he's been converted! Also that was surely the worst penalty decision ever, shocking

That was a desperately needed win but just goes to show what can be achieved with a positive formation but having said that Crawley were poor.
Could have been so much better if not for some good chances going begging, particularly the one from 2-3 yards out - a carbon copy of DKD's goal, one converted, one not converted.

Interestingly, pretty much the same XI as the XI that's been struggling, so it really puts a hole in the injuries theory - it's simply down to the game plan, positive or negative?

Credit where its due, a great result today.

Credit to Clough for finally going to a 4-4-2 diamond formation and realising that Akins and Bowery as wing backs doesn’t work. I know that Crawley are bad and the early goal settled us down, but we look so much more creative in the diamond. Suits Keillor Dunn so well.

For me, this has to be the formation we play for the remainder of this season and next season. Especially when fully fit, our midfield is our strength. Being able to have 4 of Maris, Reed, Hartigan, Clarke, Quinn (or his replacement next season), Boateng and Keillor Dunn on the pitch at the same time in the diamond will be really, really good.

This sums it up for me. I hope we stick with the diamond, I’d rather us go for it these last 8 games than try and sneak in to the playoff places. DKD looked brilliant in the role behind Akins and Oates. He’s a hell of a signing. I thought Wallace did an admirable job today, as did Jordan Bowery. Clarke is in fine form and despite being prone to moments of madness, my word we don’t half miss Quinn when he’s on form. I’ve been critical of Boateng recently but he looked lively when he came on too.

We could have easily had seven or eight today, albeit against a dreadful defence but we expoilted it brilliantly.

A great win for the Stags but there was a feeling of slight disappointment at the final whistle because we could easily have had double figures. We could have been 5-1 up at half time and won the game 12-3....and that's not counting all the blocked shots.

Very hard to pick a MOM as so many players played really well. The sponsors gave it to Davis Keillor Dunn but Ollie Clarke, Kieran Wallace, Rhys Oates, Lucas Akins and Stephen Quinn were all good candidates. Jordan Bowery, James Perch, Alfie Kilgour and Elliott Hewitt played well in defence and Christy Pym made two good saves.

Credit to Crawley as well who came to play out from the back and not foul, spoil, time waste and slow the game down like Sutton United. However I hope they play 5 at the back and 1 up front against Bradford City.

I said exactly the same scores for HT and FT, and was also disappointed we hadn't really spanked them

Sometimes all your fears are crushed and all your hopes are realised? It is not often, yet today was one of those days.

Quinn made a massive difference, his running and positioning inspired the others to up their games. Bowery acquitted himself well against the prospect of ‘wannabe footballer’ Kellan Gordon playing against him, Elliot played to his usual high standards, Perch did not have a great deal to do but did it with panache and a sense of cool garnered through experience, Wallace did a lot of hard work and did it well without mistakes, Oates and Akins ran their plums off causing them problems, Boateng played like he we know he ought to with Alfie played to his usual high standards. But for me Clarke and Quinn were the two stand out players for the Stags.

You can only beat what is in front of you. We did that well today. On occasions we played great football, we went long into channels and we did not cause them to settle. Yes we missed chances but we created more than enough and it was enjoyable. There should not have been a Stags fan leaving the Mill without a smile on their face today.

I enjoyed it, and we won. No better end to a football match.

As good as we were - which we were today.....Crawley were abysmal. Seen better sides in the National League, any of the sides in the top ten of the National League are better.

Their keeper - was he on work experience?!? He made a few saves but that was more down to our poor finishing as we seemed to hit them straight at him really. But a professional keeper in this day and age who found touch more than a fly half?
