After the drab game v Sutton a very enjoyable watch yesterday.Quinn still the key player for creativity and Oates now looks back to his explosive best.Hopefully we’ve not picked up any injuries,as we all know the scenario, it will be 6 weeks out, seems to be the standard answer no matter what it is.

With Macca starting

38pts from 22 games (includes 3pts from Donny where he came off injured after 7 mins)

Without Macca starting

34pts from 21 games

Records not too dissimilar.

Really good player though when fit and obviously a blow.

we've managed this season so far without him. Provided Johnson and Hewitt stay fit, we'll be fine

I don't think the absence of a player who has played a total of 35 minutes in the last 20 games will be the reason we don't get promotion, if we dont.

All the best to him though, hopefully he can now focus on getting himself 100% before next season.

I think the play offs are another level up and I think he will be missed if we are in them.

While we have done fairly well without him, I agree with Bellwiff. He is a big game player, as the playoffs last season showed. Perhaps our other players will step up, but Macca is just so reliable when it matters.

There's more to these injuries and long absences in my opinion - I don't know what it is but it seems abnormal, apart from last season which was virtually the same.

If there were so many that were impact related then there would be something in this. I am sure there was a Premier League club possibly Liverpool which had the same injury for a large number of players and changed their training routines.
In this case, we have had concussions and then largely impact injuries.

Tbf I think this is a bit misleading. Macca has missed a lot of games after the January transfer window, most of his games played were with a much weaker defence and yet our record with him is still slightly superior.

Yes it’s true to say the defence has improved, not enough, but definitely improved. Macca was a part of that weak defence that you talk about though, as he was last season too.

The physio at Mansfield is a good physio. However, he is over cautious with regards to player injuries and the recovery timeline.

So let us say a player has an injury that would keep him out 3 weeks - the physio is being over cautious and saying 4-5 weeks. Once that seed is planted in a players mind, that is what they work towards. They structure their recovery around that timeline.

Furthermore, I don’t think they are scanning the lower level injuries and instead just going in the physical assessment - which can be incorrect or misleading.

I don't know. But it certainly was a different physio on Tuesday.

Tom was there too which made me wonder if he's just handing over to him.

Maybe the physio burned himself out or he possibly tripped over one of the many injured players, banged his head on the wall causing concussion then landed awkwardly on the floor causing an impact injury.Estimated time out 6 to 8 weeks, so we probably see him again in August.
