Can you see on any of the other angles how free Bowery was when Oates broke and shot tamely? From the live iFollow angle, it looked like he had an open goal if Oates had got his head up and looked/passed left.

He was arriving on the penalty spot unmarked but he would still have had the keeper to beat.

Martin, fourth paragraph from the bottom.....think it should read 'After that, the Stags weren't really able to create any further chances to equalise'.

Nobody had a fantastic game, it's true. But the defence held firm, only caught out by a very sloppy moment from the Stags midfield.
Man of the match has to be Alfie Kilgour, a rock in central defence yet again. The strike force had opportunities to get three points, but only because Kilgour's positioning, leadership and fierce blocking kept us in with a chance.
I thought that he deserved more than a 6.

It's ironic that the Northampton manager claims that Mansfield have a long record of tough and uncompromising defending, when our lamentable defensive record speaks for itself. Kilgour is in the forefront of addressing that problem.
