What a warrior on the pitch, left everything out there - the original George Foster.
Will always be remembered by those of us fortunate to see him play.

Words can’t describe how good Kevin was playing for the Stags.

A true legend and my Stags’ hero when watching the Stags.

I am truly grateful and privileged that I was able to play with Kevin in the same walking football team in a tournament for the Stags about four years ago. One of my proudest moments in my sixty years of being associated with the Stags.

Unfortunately, with his dementia starting to be a problem, we had to send him to play at Centre Forward instead of his natural position in defence because he kept giving away penalties by stepping into the ‘penalty area’.
It was a crying shame that he couldn’t understand the need to keep out of the ‘penalty area’.
Those accustomed to privilege may feel that equality is oppression.

Now, when folk on here talk about legends then Kev really does live up to being one - RIP Kev an absolute true legend.

I was fortunate enough that my first game(s) my Dad took me to was in the mid 70's, it's remarkable he was part of the best era I have have witnessed in my time as a Stags fan, what a player and what a team he was part of.

Have seen him play and played against him albeit in pool matches - an all round great guy.

So sad to hear the news that Kevin Bird has passed away.

Kevin was one of the best players to ever play for the club and one I enjoyed watching so many times over so many years.

I enjoyed chatting with him many times, and I wrote this profile of him which I hope did him some justice

My deepest condolences to Sue and the rest of his family.

RIP Kevin.

That team from the mid 70's is the best Stags team I've had the pleasure to watch and Kevin Bird was an integral part of it.
Rest in peace, Kevin, Mansfield legend.

Will always remember his exploits playing for the Stags .

Truly saddened to hear of the passing of Kevin Bird today , he was my hero for many of my early years supporting the Stags, Legend is a word bandied about very easily but Kevin epitomises the meaning of the word, I'm so glad and proud to have have had the chance to play alongside Kevin in the EFL Walking Football Tournament at Barnsley FC in May 2018 .
My thoughts and condolences go out to Susan Bird and all Kevin's family and friends.
Rest in Peace Kevin

A wonderful little piece Pete....

With his passing, a part of my childhood went with him. It was that generation which created my and so many others, undying obsession for Mansfield Town

Very sad.

A top top man signed on a free transfer from Doncaster if I’m correct.

Hard as nails and a great defender. Scored a lot of goals as well.

RIP Kevin and condolences to friends and family.
