Nigel likes him.It will be interesting if Akins starts when Oates is fit.

Akins will play wing back instead of Bowery when Oates comes back, with Swan still on the bench with Lapslie behind striker.

Burton fans speak highly of him.
His stats are great
Yet he pulls on a Stags shirt and is awful, why?

Did you see the game yesterday? He is not awful

When players have to protect each other from key board warriors this can have a affect on player fan effect.
when this is reflected to the stands then its them and us.
The one thing players and staff praise the club for is its unity.
Be careful what you wish for.
Its a spectator sport you pay you choose.
Akins plays a role hold the ball up and bring midfield into play, he gets kicked from pillar to post by mainly six foot six giants.
knocking him in the back, thighs knees and ankles and head any where will do.
Our only other player to take this contact is Hawkins once more a hold up man, not a goal scorer, missed a few games with a bad back,
Clough must feel he keeps fit by being the aggressor in defence.
Players and staff know all the hard work Akins has to put in, and the physical abuse he has to take.
The proof of the pudding is we are the second highest scorers in league 2.
Akins is just a member of a 18 man squad, to play where the manager sees fit
Until January then all could change

He is frustrating and at times his poor first touch doesn't help those who think he earns his place, but I also think that he does some things which are missed or ignored by those who don't get why he is being picked.
It is arguable that he wasn't in the worst three players yesterday and was poorly served by the officials

Hopefully Swan is ready to get a run of starts with Lapslie in behind and move Akins back to rwb which probably suits him better and gets him out of the limelight a bit. Bowery has been consistently poor in that position so time to change it up.

I don’t see how Akins being at right wing back could help us. If he’s going to play it has to be as part of the front line.

I think he's better there than Bowery definitely, not as good as Gordon. Hewitt was given so much licence to push up with Bowery yesterday it was like we were playing with 2 wingbacks on 1 side.

Do you own a hat?? What kind of hat is it? How will you go about eating it?

He won't be even close to eating it, a couple of good performances out of nigh on 30 appearances is appalling.
Although some thought he'd miraculously turned into Le Tissier overnight after finally finding a decent cross for Swan to convert.
Sadly normality has resumed
Feel for the players that have to sit on the bench every week watching it, wondering what the hell does he do to constantly warrant a starting place and more often than not the full 90 mins.

I saw him live for the first time today.
He was playing wing back - I wish he would have the confidence to attack more, rather than pass backwards or sideways.
He proved last week that he can power past a defender and put in a good cross. Just try to do it more often.
It might be a confidence thing. He can do it - so go for it Lucas!
Not sure what his best position is - but as with Bowery, I don’t think it is full back/wing back.

i think the more obvious past it he is and the more criticism he gets the more stubborn clough will get and wonders why us amateurs dare question him and the longer he will be in the team because clough knows best

When you are looking for something, it’s the only thing you can see.

He didn’t play any worse than others tonight.

I think he's definitely worse than some he's keeping out of the team.

I feel for the bloke, because he must know he's playing poorly & sometimes if you try too hard nothing works.

A lot of people who sat near me this evening were just laughing at Akins and with just cause , biggest cheer of the night in the second half was when he actually controlled the ball and passed it to a Mansfield player but generally again I'm afraid he had a stinker playing up front..way way past it.
