Not some of our most fluent football today but I’m more than happy with how we battled our way to victory.

Akins was superb, the Donny defence must have been knackered trying to deal with him today, he was an absolute beast. I did think he was looking tired at the start of the second half when Donny had their little spell of pressure but then he scored with a peach of a lob and didn’t look back.

I felt more than comfortable with Flinders in goal, he looked very assured, as you’d expect from someone with his vast experience. What I really liked was the goal kicks and clearances were proper old school and hit down the pitch. I prefer us to play football but the Man Cityesque tactic employed by so many sides of playing out from your own 6 yard box just makes me nervous.

Kilgour looks like a proper centre half, I have a feeling he’ll be a real fans favourite before too long.

I thought Perch had his best game of the season today.

Hewitt was Hewitt and quietly got about doing his job well.

Johnson looks another class signing, we looked so much stronger down the right with him in the side.

If Macca is out for a while then we need a natural left back/LWB before the window closes. Wallace did ok there but we need someone to match what Johnson now offers on the right.

Reed looked decent, a few mistakes but some good tackles, one great block and most of the time played the simple ball well.

Boateng was looking good before going off injured, hopefully he’s not out too long.

Clarke did well not to get sent off after picking up a yellow straight after coming on. He committed a foul in the second half and the ref clearly said to him ‘one more’.

It’s just not quite happening for Rhys Oates at the minute is it.

Swan, the more I see him, the more I want us to sign him on a permanent deal. He’s a twenty goal a season man in the making and a natural finisher.

As for Donny, they had their ten minutes and a few one on ones that looked suspiciously offside to me but basically I thought they were poor, maybe that’s credit to us. They did seem to go into full panic mood as soon as the ball was put in their box.

All in all a very pleasing win and looking at the table it’s so congested from 4th place down that it’s shaping up to be another rollercoaster from now until May.

The sky sport highlights show how well we finished today. All great goals.

An ok performance, think 4-1 flatters us but deserved the win for how clinical we were, the 4th was a great goal and Akins had a good game, as did Flinders and a couple others. Think Reed will look better when we have Maris back, he got caught out a couple times because he didn't have many options. Clarke getting that yellow card straight after coming in totally nullified his game.

Yep. Right after half time they were at us and they got the goal and maybe looked liked they might get another but then up Lucas popped with the very decisive 3rd

I thought that their centre-half, Nelson I think his name was, was a cracking player - brought the ball out a lot, didn't seem to waste a pass.

Flinders was a two-goal turnaround today - that stupid save for a certain goal, and the assist for Akins goal.

Nelson was his first game for Donny

I think it was Elliott with the cross mate.

There is no way Pym makes that save. Thought flinders commanded his 6 yard box better and distributed the ball better yesterday than I’ve seen from Pym all season!

Doubt he will. He's young, raw but he'll be an asset to clubs from a higher league. His finish yesterday was calm, assured and panic free.

Glad to hear Clough clearly say that Macca is the only one we don’t have a direct replacement for. Fingers crossed we sort that this week

I'd love to sign him too.

He's improved so much since he joined.

We've got a lot to offer him. First team time, local to home, a club where he's improved, got ambitions. At his age he should want to play. He's never going to be offered mega bucks so if I was him I'd want to stay where I'm happy, playing and playing well.

I think that's right. No Championship or League 1 club will offer him more money than we'd be willing to just to be a squad player. He'd be first choice here next season.

If we get promoted, things would change things dramatically - more likely to get a second year on loan or tempt him to join us

Maybe also sentimental for him that he was from the area and went to a local School here. Could develop into a way better player than Oates imo. Only slight criticism is he don’t yet seem to have a powerful shot. Oates does. Maybe some extra leg strengthening work in the Gym and a year older it may come

Would be a brilliant permanent addition as would Harbottle if we got promotion.
