I would imagine folk will have different views on the rights and wrongs of the case.
I just find it sad that an elderly manager can’t keep up with the times and not knowing his words and actions now have consequences.

Are you on a wind up? "Ex-Crawley Town manager John Yems used "offensive, racist and Islamophobic" language and joked that a Muslim player was a terrorist, according to a Football Association report."
Mr Yems simply paid no regard to the distress which his misplaced jocularity was causing."
The evidence the tribunal heard included:
How Yems used a racial slur to describe some of the club's black players and deliberately mis-pronounced a name to make it sound like an racially offensive term.
Yems used a racial stereotype to two black players who were playing darts. He then repeated a racial slur and "made gestures as if using a blowpipe".
How one player feigned illness in order to avoid Yems' 'banter' about eating curry.
A Muslim player became the subject of jokes about "being a terrorist". He was asked if he slept with a gun and if he carried a bomb in his bag.
Yems used a racial stereotype to a black player of African origin by asking if he liked jerk chicken - a dish associated with the Caribbean.
Another player returning from international duty was told he should not train with the squad. Yems commented on his colour "then put his hand over his mouth saying he should not say that".
Yeah Pete, poor John Yems, how sad that he's now just of an age where he doesn't know what's PC... When was any of that ever acceptable?

I don't think Pete is defending him, more pity that his views still exist in a world where so much has changed, yet he hasn't changed with it.
The fundamental breakdown of racism is unconscious and conscious - you can be racist without realising you are, or you can just be an out an out racist. For some people they dont realise that 'culture banter' is racist - and I think that's what the report is saying about Yems - his racism was unconscious racism masked as banter.

Sorry Mark, but this whole "stuck in the past" thing is a massive cop out. Even in the 70s the noisy minority who thought it was ok to say stuff like this were still racists. It was racist and vile then and it still is now. Anyone saying he's a man of a certain age and a relic of a time when it was the norm, is essentially saying that it was acceptable to be racist back then and acceptable if you grew up then. It's a pathetic excuse. I know many men of that age who are not racist now, but also weren't in the 70s.

Fully agree with you Paris. There's no defence for it, I was trying to dissect the FA response more than anything, which feels like it was circling the real reason.

Like others, I'm not convinced Yems will learn from this. Vile racist.
