What worries me is that fans are so pleased to see a signing at last in Alfie Kilgour that they will forget that only maintains the status quo with Oli Hawkins gone......we still need the net three signings the team desperately needs and we have been hoping for.

No-one else think we need a LB more than a RB?

Stagsnet: 1-1 = 0

Also Stagsnet: don't be so negative, 1 - 1 = 2

We need both! Our defence has been a shambles this season

What i find impressive is they can sign a player within minutes of a different player being sold. I suppose it could just be a coincidence? Must say handy timing to happen the same day as not just one of our best players - but one of the best players in the division - has been sold.

The most pleasing (yet somewhat perplexing) thing for me is Clough's comments about needing defenders.

Can't work out whether he's known all along, or thought this make shift defence was good enough initially and changed his mind.

Still need more signings but would seem that he knows/realises this.

I'd imagine that they've been done at different times but that they've been keen to announce them together so there's no wailing at one going out before one coming in. Managing the message, as they say.

I also know that clubs usually agree on a time between them when they both announce the signing/leaving.

It’s probably as simple as one depends on the other in order to balance the books. They all agree and both deals get done at the same time.

"managing the message" i like that one Marky Mark.

Sorry to say the only message im getting is its an unhappy camp at the moment. Players squabbling with management and with each other.

"He's only gone cos he's homesick". A likely story im sure.

it will be coincidence. Kilgour was never the replacement for Hawkins, he was a signing to fill that gap of a natural CB that we've been shouting about on here, and NC obviously saw himself, for months.

Doubling his wages maybe a better reason.

I don’t think anyone has said he’s homesick. He’s from the South , has a young family, family support is likely to be in the south, he’s had a good offer , the club have had a good offer. Sounds plausible to me…

Whatever is said and done by the club there are always doubters who are looking for a negative reason.

Hey, it is Stagsnet I suppose.

I'm sure he has known for quite a while, as we all have, but there was sod all he could do about it until January. We already know that talks started with Kilgour some time ago, and if rumours are true then the Freeman deal was also along way down the line till Cowley was sacked.
It makes me laugh that people assume Clough and his team have been sitting twiddling their thumbs since the last window closed.
