Today was an utter disgrace

Postby luke » Sat Nov 19, 2022 8:38 pm

Just got home and I would be astonished if anyone thinks differently.

We can all pretend to be experts. We have the players and squad to finally get us over the line but every time we turn a corner we face one signposted in the opposite direction.

What's worse is Harrogate were only marginally better than we were.

Oates back sooner than we thought, is it too early?

That response was kind of predictable but we look worse than last year.

Nigel would beg to differ if you've watched his interview. For what it's worth I was there, and totally agree with you. Even his captain, Quinny, came over and apologised for that rubbish, at the end of the game.

I agree , and I was there too.

Just was not our day again

I am starting to agree with the ‘too small a squad” posters though

No Clarke - Hard to control midfield without him

No Macca = only can rely on Hewitt to make direct runs from the back, and he was not fit

The positives was having Oates back

In theory

Swan, and Oates gives pace at front

Macca / Hewitt from back

Start to get a good set of results December and sign a left sided CB in Jan ………. And JR willing, a quality one, even if costly

Personally I’d go back to a back 4

Use Hawkins up front when needed in certain games and give the lad a break from CB
When you think you know the answers, I change the questions

Struggle to see much better than a 10th place finish with the squad we have atm. Too small, too old, too slow.
Too many losses already to even dream of top 3 spot.

The top three every season always has a side in it that doesn't particularly play good football to watch, but has a very strong and organised defensive base.

We have never sorted that base and it has been our downfall for way too long now.

The only position that has been improved in a defensive sense is the goalkeeper, but he is only on loan and will be harder to keep when we don't get promoted.

This was so predictable, in any walk of life, sport, business etc you have to evolve or you go backwards… I and others expressed concerns that others were blind to… loads of “we just need to keep hold of the squad and not go on a bad run” comments lol

We should have been brutal, all old past it players should have gone, as should squad players that he clearly don’t fancy…2xCBs (proper ones) should have been signed, cover for RWB/LWB required for competition and to add pace. Goal scorer or 2.

Signing midfielders that are no better (worse) than what we had has upset us, Clarke Maris lapslie should be locked in, forget hartigan etc

Forget the stats, digest the score and how those, goals came about.

Ok keep the ball and do something with it but we lacked penetration up front because there wasn't an up front and our midfield was sluggish, Hartigan, what a waste of a shirt since he returned.

O'Toole, Hawkins and sorry to say Perch are all far too similar and all too slow.
I don't think O'Tool made a successful forward pass in the 45 mins I watched before switching off.

You only have to look at the quality of players that have supposedly been researched by our backroom team, to see where most of our problem is. Wallace for the best part of a season, and Hartigan, we're again completely anonymous yesterday, as they normally are. And some supporters trust these people to get it right in the January transfer windo, not a chance
