Of the 16 premier under 21s
3 won their group
2 came second
2 came third
7 came last
With two, Man City & Dirty Leeds still with a game to play.
Makes you wonder why they bother. I'm sure the best u21s are not chosen to play. If they are then there's no hope for the Premier.

In previous years North East was paired against North West.

The NE teams this year are Burton, Lincoln, Mansfield and Everton kids.

The NW teams are Port Vale, Bolton, Salford and Man Utd kids.

Just out of curiosity if we win the group why are we more likely to be away than home?

We can't win the group.

We have inferior goal difference (-1) to both Grimsby (0) and City (+1) we are 2 points ahead of both of them.

Victory for either puts them above us by 1 point. A draw gives both 1 point but because of penalties for the extra point, whoever wins the shootout would be on 5 points, same as us. However both would go ahead on goal difference no matter who wins the shootout. A draw doesn't increaee or decres the goal difference.

But if it's a draw and we go level with Man City does the game between us not decide it?

Ah that explains it, i didn’t take into account you got a point of you drew but won on penalties.

Do you also get anything for qualifying?

1-1 and t'Cods win on pens.
Does that mean we win the group?

If we had scored a consolation goal at Cleethorpes we would have topped the group.

Which shows how ridiculous the competition is. Nearly as ridiculous as xG. Nearly, but not quite ;)
