If it's at Goodison I might go up to it despite it being a rubbish competition. It'll be the last time Stags ever have a chance to play there unless we draw them in the FA cup.

If the Prem teams enter a competition to gain experience for their kids they should make themselves available for the dates and not swan off to other places. In doing so it begins the ' we are a big club, we'll do what we want when we want. Mansfield should be thakful they are playing us in this competition and should do everything they can to change their calendar and their fans arragements to suit us while we go off for a two week jolly up in Oz. When we eventually get our U21s into the FL things, dates and KO times will have to be arranged for us all the time, so they may as well get used to it' attitude.

I say if they enter a comp the least they can do is have a team to fulfil those fixtures in a competition designed originally for Lge 1/2 clubs.

Simple answer, if they have no team available forfeit the tie.

You just know we'll have pressure put on us by the EFL to accomadate Everton, won't matter that they will mess us about.

Was the fixture date chucked on them last minute? Was they not told? Apparently this competition is vital to their development playing against mens sides. So why do they seem to want to avoid it?

Whenever it's played i hope it's at Goodison Park, I don't think Stags have played at Goodison Park in the previous 100+ years and they are due to move to their new stadium in 2024/25.

The above tweet is not necessarily correct. Nigel Clough said yesterday Everton want the game to be played on Nov 29. We don't know yet if it is as Goodison or One Call Stadium, but it will be at one of those.

I'll be surprised if it's the 29th, England Wales on the same day.

I don’t think it’ll be on 29th, it’s England v Wales World Cup match

This competition is treated with derision and fear of B teams by the vast majority of the supporters of teams in leagues 2 and 1. Yet when the opportunity arises for a show of good governance what does the EFL (don’t get me started on the clowns that run it) do? Hold the draw at 10 pm on a Friday. When younger supporters are in bed, older supporters are out and the even older supporters are watching what their wives and partners tell them (speaking from experience). 10 pm on a Friday hides the announcement and worse still delays both clubs secretaries contacting each other to agree a date, time and venue. Both secretaries and CEO’s will have more important things to deal with over the weekend, such as their respective first team games. This is treating the clubs with contempt for both have busy fixture lists to navigate and the fans, who do go to watch this competition, with contempt. Fans need to plan travel, work arrangements etc.

In the age of digital, now broadcasting and information sharing the EFL are well and truly Luddites.

Can they play their first team? Just thinking with the world cup being on, they will want to keep their 1st team active.

It is U21 but some over age players are allowed. I think it is limited to 4.

Clough interview, 15 Nov

Clough says Everton have proposed the game is played at Goodison Park on Wed Nov 30, this is not confirmed yet but will probably happen. Clough mentions that Mansfield have never played at Goodison Park (I told him that on Saturday).

The Notts Senior Cup game against Notts Co was pencilled in for Mon Nov 28 at Meadow Lane. Mansfield will try to re-arrange this one.
