Which shows how ridiculous the competition is. Nearly as ridiculous as xG. Nearly, but not quite

I think I’m right in saying we can’t draw Lincoln. Everton U21’s, Bolton, Vale or Salford.

Mansfield drawn away to Everton U21 in the Papa John's Trophy. But the game will be played at the One Call Stadium. Game expected to be played Nov 22.

I don’t think the France vs Australia World Cup game would be much of a distraction.

actually reading the rules again, I think it is discretionary where the game is played, it could at Goodison Park

I think according to the rules, if Everton don't give up home advantage, then it has to be at Goodison. So it will be at Goodison or One Call Stadium.

So definitely not a neutral venue then

Play it at Goodison. Easy to get to from Wigan.

Sorry my post wasn’t clear, I meant those were the only four teams that we could draw.

Yes I know
It's bizarre the draw is done and we still don't know where the game will be played!

It would be dreadful.
38,000 empty seats, it would be like a covid fixture.
Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.

Like Rob I also thought that the U21 teams played all the matches away.
I have looked at the last 3 years in the competition.
In 2021-22 just 3 U21 teams got past the group stage and they all played away in the 2nd round.
In 2020-21 7 U21 teams got past the group stage and they all played away.
In 2019-20 6 U21 teams got through the group stage - 5 from the North and 1 from the South.
1 of the Northern teams played at home which was Everton. They played Fleetwood in front of a crowd of 624 and it was played at Goodison Park.
Everton did win their group which included Stags who lost on penalties at Port Vale in the 2nd round.
Brighton also won their group and played at home but both Manchester sides won their group and played away.
Maybe it is up to the U21 side whether they play at home. Maybe the rules have changed since 19-20 season but I thought all U21 sides played away unless they play another U21 side.
We will find out next week.

According to Clough post match today Everton have requested that the tie be moved to the week commencing 28th November but we have a County Cup match on that Monday.
Everton appear to be playing in the Sydney Cup (Australia!) against Celtic on Sunday 20th and Western Sydney Wanderers on Wednesday 23rd. Presumably with some (four that I can see) of their first team being at the World Cup they are expecting to have their U21 players in Oz.
I think that Everton should stick to the original week. The week after doesn’t work for us without moving another fixture.
