I remember replying to their tweet where I said how embarrassing they are thinking they’ll walk the league. Their owner did a reaction video trying to take the piss. Who’s laughing now

Newport County 0 Leyton Orient 0
Attendance: 4,313 (380 Orient Fans)
Possession: 37/63%

A contrast of styles as Newport (18th) looked to close league leaders Orient down quickly and then go direct when they won the ball. Orient looked to play out from the back and play a bit more football and were very dangerous on the counter attack. Newport had the 2nd worst home record in League 2 whereas Orient are on course to win the league with around 106 points.

Orient had two good chances to score in each half. Aaron Drinan was clean through on goal but Joe Day tipped his shot past the post and then Rob Hunt headed over at the back post from a Omar Beckles cross. Idris El Mizouni had two great chances to score in the 2nd half. Nathan Mariah Welsh made a great block to stop him the first time. El Mizouni was then clean through on goal but he amazingly decided not to shoot and cross the ball.

Newport created very little but they may have scored a goal from a well worked corner in the 1st half when Declan Drysdale's header ar the far post from Offy Zanzala's cross seemed to go over the line but Lawrence Vigouroux clawed it away and then saved the follow up from Omar Bogle. Graham Coughlan said it was over the line after the game after looking at the DVD. He said it was not even borderline. Will Evans nearly scored in the 88th minute when he chased a ball over the top and knocked the ball past Vigouroux who was rushing out of his goal but the Orient defenders got back to stop Evans and block Aaron Wildig's shot.

Priestley Farquharson played well in defence for Newport but the sponsors gave MOM to Nathan Moriah Welsh (20) who is on loan from Bournemouth. Omar Beckles and Tom James were good in defence for Orient with Theo Archibald being their best attacking player.

Graham Coughlan said the officials were poor and clearly favoured Orient because they were league leaders. Newport also had players missing in their squad due to illness.

Richie Wellens said he was getting some stick from an Orient fan after the game for not playing Paul Smyth who he described as the best counter attacking player in the league but with a history of injuries so they have to be careful with him. Paul Smyth was due to play but pulled up with a quad injury in the warm up. He also said he got abuse off Newport fans for 90 minutes including when he went to the toilet!

Yet neither are good enough for us. A hit like that Andy Cook fella and Danny Johnson.

Fantastic dogged performance from Steve Evans' Stevenage at Aston Villa to come back from 1-0 down to win 2-1 with an 88th minute Jamie Reid penalty and a 90th minute Dean Campbell (on loan from Aberdeen) goal from a short corner.

Danny Rose scored a good goal in the 1st half but it was ruled out by VAR as Luke Norris was fractionally offside in the build up.

Their reward is Stoke City away.

Touché

If Evans hadn't left us the way he did and actually finished a season with us it'd be a different matter. If he came back trust would be a big issue I feel.

Irrespective of how he does it, results wise he’s a very effective manager at this level. Think they’re in it for the long haul

wait until a league one job like Pompey or Charlton come available... he'd jump ship no doubt

or a side in china.

Orient and stevenage won’t last, they don’t concern me

Really ?...Wouldn't mind swapping places with either of them , never liked Evans as a person but I think I would rather have him and his team than the current group and Orient are steaming away at the top

Obviously Stevenage have a defence that is worthy of the name, not a bunch of disjointed misfits who have only kept 8 clean sheets in 34 competitive games this season.

The big question is why the ex-Oldham centre half is playing for Stevenage rather than us.

Simply because Oldham decided not to release him when we put a bid in last January.

What about this summer when Oldham were relegated?
