Kellan Gordon, meanwhile, has been ruled out with a groin problem.

“Kells has a bit of a sore groin that was a little bit sore on Friday as well.

“That's one of the reasons why we took him off.

“He won't train today and we will assess him tomorrow.”

Derby County Assistant Head Coach Richie Barker is loving life in Derbyshire after leaving Championship side Rotherham United to join Paul Warne's backroom staff.

On returning to Mansfield Town...
I've been back quite a few times. We played there a couple of times with Rotherham, and I think I went there with MK. Not in a competitive game as it happens so far but still a very special place.

It's bizarre because I don't really know that many people there now. I think the groundsman is about the only person left. And I'm sure there's still a lot of fans you probably don't even remember me playing now because it was 15 years ago. But it is a football club that is very special to me because it was my first club as a captain. I think I ended up scoring nearly 50 goals in two seasons or something so it got me kickstarted again after the back of being a bit part player in a championship squad for a few years so the people were always amazing to me, amazing to my family. My wife and kids always enjoyed coming, so, it's a football club that I always look out, for look out for the results and probably one day aim to go back and work there in some capacity.

It was a great two and a half or three years for me and I never really wanted to leave and I was never really allowed to tell the story of why I left but I didn't want to go and unfortunately I was sort of made to go but I played a part, I think, in helping save the football club at that particular time which again, just means it's a bit extra special to me.

Love the guy.

He apparently does a lot of the tactical work/coaching under Warne, with Warne being the figurehead and man manager. Would like to see him get a crack here one day.

He is a great guy and was a great player for us, but his record as a manager isn't great. That said, it was a while ago and he's obviously been a successful Assistant.

Did a few decent things in management, secure Bury promotion over the final eight games of a season which as we’ve seen in the past is not always easy. Think he did pretty ok at Crawley. Portsmouth poor but was a basket case at the time.

Nothing at all to suggest he would be a success, and I wouldn’t want him to ruin his reputation here, but as you say has picked up plenty of experience over the years and I wouldn’t be against giving someone like him a shot.
