Average player ratings after 13 games

Postby part time pete » Fri Sep 30, 2022 3:49 pm

Here is Martin's average player ratings after the first 13 games.

Players have only made the list if they have started at least five games.

Average rating of all players is 7.07 up from 6.93 the last time I did the average a month ago, and only score points if they started games.

7.94 Lapslie (8)
7.86 Hawkins (7)
7.75 Hewitt (6)
7.71 Clarke (7)
7.44 Maris (9)
7.31 Hartigan (8)
7.23 Pym (11)
7.19 Akins (8)
7.17 Gordon (6)
7.00 Swan (6)
6.86 Harbottle (11)
6.81 McLaughlin (13)
6.71 Quinn (7)
6.50 Perch (5)
6.44 Bowery (9)
6.38 O'Toole (8)

The team has lost only 5 of the 13 games. Only three players have started in all these five defeats.

McLaughlin understandably as he has started all 13 games, but worryingly the other two players are Swan who has started only six games and O'toole who has only started eight games.

Almost all the top positions occupied by midfield players and bottom ones by defenders which shows where our weaknesses are

Bit disappointing that Macca is low down in the list. We know how good he can be, but he's been low key this season so far.

I don't think he's been fully fit in many of the games but we've had to play him because frankly no-one else can do his job on the left. I also think he's partnership with Quinn was so good last season, with Quinn out of the side we lack a proper left sided player to help him.

These ratings are based on a personal opinion by one person and should be taken with a pinch of salt , someone else would see them differently..Perch, Quinn, O'Toole with Bowery in the bottom four is my opinion a misconception and could be construed as a question mark against the Manager signing elderly players...also players coming on as subs do not always give rise to an accurate rating..

I can see your point but the explanation at the start of the thread states players are only rated on games in which they start so subs have no bearing on the scores. I agree it is only one person’s opinion but we have no other consistent yardstick.

Bowery is low down but I don't think he's started a game up front yet. Wing back or centre back is where he's started games. So a td unfair to

I don't think Martins average is too far away from what I'd rate them as. My list would be different but only by a few swapping places.

Eggy might do fans ones from the ratings he asks people to give. Maybe add Martins in there as well (unless marring submits his ratings anyway?) then it might paint a clearer picture.

It shows what I thought. We have a decent back 3 and one of our backup centre halves has started more games than Hewitt and Hawkins but nearly 1.5 points below them on average.

I think they’re broadly in line with what we’ve seen with our own eyes - Lapslie has been amongst the best performers, JJ hasn’t started off so well. Clough probably agrees as you’d think that the Top 9 would all start tonight, and I wouldn’t see the bottom 4 starting tonight - if Hartigan was fit.

Here is Eggy's fans rating, same criteria as above

7.72 Lapslie (8)
7.63 Clarke (7)
7.50 Hawkins (7)
7.50 Maris (9)
7.47 Hewitt (6)
7.28 Pym (11)
7.14 Harbottle (11)
6.96 Akins (8)
6.86 Hartigan (8)
6.85 Gordon (6)
6.77 McLaughlin (13)
6.72 Bowery (9)
6.60 Swan (6)
6.59 Perch (5)
6.55 O'Toole (8)
6.26 Quinn (7)

Very little difference from Martin's scores. Notice that ten out of top eleven started last night and only one missing was Hartigan injured.

So minus Hartigan and Quinn in for him it was basically last nights team as the most rated one so far this season?
