From what i recall each floodlight has 16 bulbs, if you remove 4 from each you’ve saved 25% instantly.

Or you kick of an hour earlier and save nearly 100%

It’s not an hour though is it, I take it you do nothing Saturday mornings. I like many others take my lads to football with many 11am kick offs some later than that, that’s us not going if it’s a 1pm start and contributing to club coffers in terms of food and drink. The amount of less home fans and away fans compared to a 3pm start will hit the club more significantly in value than turning a few bulbs on at 3pm for an extra 2 hours. Simple as that

But then there are others like me who have other commitments on Saturday evenings and have to miss quite a few 3pm matches, but will now be able to make this match at 1pm, so there will be gains as well as losses.

That’s one gain compared to 500 losses, being brutally honest. I literally don’t know anyone who has a regular commitment every Saturday evening. Trying to spin an earlier kick off time as a good thing is a real non starter sorry mate

Not trying to spin anything, and I'm sure you are right that there will be more losses than gains from this. Just simply saying that the same doesnt apply to everyone. From my point of view, the less saturday afternoon games the better for me, except for the winter months from mid November to end of February.

It’s just a trial to see what impact it will have. If you don’t do it, you’ll never know. We should have had more notice though and it should have been done at a game where floodlights would have been used to gauge the actual impact. I actually think floodlit matches should be few and far between due to the environmental impact they have.

After a nuclear attack we'll be glowing in the dark so won't need the floodlights

Perhaps we were advised by police to bring it forwards and someone said "at least we save money on floodlighting" and ran with it.

Or maybe our projected bills are higher than anticipated so while we swapped Hartlepool to Friday night (at a time where it was expected to be less) and it is too late to change it?

I would imagine Football clubs are also feeling the pinch, and i am sure the club would not have taken this decision without consideration of everyone concerned

Rubbish man, as Birmingham stag states it impacts him severely if they see fit to continue it. To consider folk would've been to put a proviso before a ball was kicked to all ST holders that 1pm KOs could become the norm and if it made your ST not worthwile you should be etitled to a full refund.
Taking someones money and then moving t'goalposts isn't cricket.
Me myself will now miss 6-8 matches maybe if it becomes the norm. I will have no consideration from t'club how it impacts me.

A terrible decision, and even worse if energy costs are being used to cover up something else.

They probably should do a trial to actually see if it works or doesn’t work in reality. Oh, wait..

It has a wider impact not just on the club

A lot of pubs require that pre match trade

Simple way to stop it. Have a wee protest before the match.

Very poor decision from the club and another example recently of no communication between the club and the fans.

Where are the SSA in all of this? Are they a supporters group that brings up issues from the fan base to the club? Do we need to set up a supporters group that will do that?

I say its being smart and forward thinking and should be praised for being sensible ... if it saves the club money good on em i say !!! Although it’ll be interesting in the bleak winter months...

Given that the club have just invested a fortune in solar panels and it costs about £15 to run the floodlights for two hours, I can't see it bankrupting the club.

How do you know it costs £15 to run the floodlights for two hours?

I tell you what there are a lot of NIMBYs on here.

Not
In
My
Back
Yard

Nothing can be different nothing can change and everyone just assuming the overlords within the club are incapable of taking more than one thing into consideration. I think we should ask Deardon, as we all know he wouldn’t change a thing unless it’s the last min!!
Let’s take this on face value. Let’s see if it works and go from there shall we?

Also nuclear attack…..jeeeeeeez
