We don’t have a World Cup break

Five of our next seven league games are against teams who currently have less than one point per game.

Sorry I got that wrong. We do however have very few league games in November.

I didn't think we got a break from world cup?

I'd be disappointed if we get less than 5 wins from the next 7. Its a really kind run of fixtures at a really useful time.

We don’t I made a mistake when I read that we had no fixtures between 19 November and 3 December.

We will if we get knocked out in FA Cup first round.

League 2 is stretched with teams in playoffs or above having more ppg than usual. The championship seems opposite. Blackburn just gone top in live table with P 16 W 9 D 0 L 7 GD +2 PTS 27. PPG 1.6875. Lost as many as bottom of league 2. Grimsby in 10th have a greater ppg than top of table Blackburn in Championship !!.
First match : 04.01.1975 home v Cambridge Utd F.A.Cup 3rd Round 1-0 Clarke

I agree, and if you look at the fact we got Salford/Orient (away) out the way early doors

It just leaves us with

December - tricky visit to Stevenage

January - Northampton away

February - Bradford/Tranmere

Of course we all know we can slip up on expected win game (Hartlepool)

I just can’t see on paper many troubling us at home.

Plus Oates back December at crucial Xmas games …match fit hopefully

Run in April is 7 games though and I 100% think we will need to make Atleast one signing in January

BUT ………… I can see us going up in a top 3 position.

Bookies have us joint favourite for promotion and second favourite for the title behind Stevenage.

Current top teams end of season last 3 games look interesting
I think Stevenage/Carlisle will drop off
Leaving Orient/Northampton/Stags/Salford fighting it out imo

STAGS - Stevenage (H) Harrogate (H) Colchester (A)
ORIENT - Crewe (H) Stockport (H) Bradford (A)
NORTHAMPTON - Harrogate (H) Bradford (H) Tranmere (A)
SALFORD - Walsall (A) Carlisle (A) Gillingham (H)

CARLISLE UNITED - Barrow (A) Salford (H) Sutton (A)
STEVENAGE - Stags (A) Grimsby (H) Barrow (A)

Reviewing my predicted top 4 id say …….
Stags - Only possible slip up got to be Stevenage but think they be mid table by April
Northampton - got stinkers of last 2 games in my opinion
Orient/Bradford - What a noghtmare game for both to end on
Salford - Not a bad run in to be fair

I'm predicting Stags will need 81 points to finish in the TOP 3.

Current Table
PLD...W...D...L...PTS...PPG
.14....8...2...4....26....1.86

Required for 81 points
PLD...W...D...L...PTS...PPG
.32...18..1..13....55...1.72
.32...17..4..11....55...1.72
.32...16..7...9.....55...1.72
.32...15..10..7....55...1.72
.32...14..13..5....55...1.72
.32...13..16..3....55...1.72
.32...12..19..1....55...1.72

Stags current PPG 1.86 would total 85 points over a season.

On course for the TOP 3.

The next 3 games at home.

23 goals in 14 games, Stags are 2nd top scorers.

Only 1 league defeat at Field Mill in the last 12 months (Sutton Utd)

Bizarrely, at half-time Stags have only been winning in 1 out of the 14 games.

Well. Fell at the first. It's a no from me, currently.

1 point from those 3 games. It's a nailed on NO.

Just so inconsistent. I reserve the right to change my mind. But I can't see us finishing in the top 3 currently unfortunately.

We’ve not managed to break in to the top 3 yet as we are about to enter November so, judging by this first third of the season I’d say it’s more likely we’ll be in the playoffs but there’s a lot of football left to play. It’ll be close I think, with about 6 teams in the mix for automatic promotion.

We haven’t been inconsistent recently, before Saturday we were 7 unbeaten. I would not even bother guessing either way at this point I’ll take note of the table more around Christmas.

I think we have been quite Jekyll and Hyde.. Carlisle Hartlepool and barrow weren't good performances, but we.got 5 points, throwing points away and grinding out the win. We put the same sort of performance in Vs Crawley.

I think if you go through all the performances and award points on the balance of play then we won’t be far off the points we’ve actually got. We’ve had some fortunate wins/draw (eg Crewe, Barrow, Carlisle) and some games where we’ve played better than the result suggests (eg Orient and arguably Crawley and Hartlepool).

All taken together I think our points are about right.

I couldn’t disagree more to be honest

We have a game in hand of Northampton, Stevenage and Swindon

Northampton lost to Walsall, Doncaster, and Salford - Are they Jekyll and Hyde ?

Orient drew with Donny and we hammered them

Stevenage lost to Northampton and 1-1 with Gillingham

We are doing just fine and 20 other teams would love to be in our position.

Stags last results - W/D/W/W/L

A defender and a quality striker short. Until thats rectified its a no from me.

I think Northampton will win the league and Orient will be in the top 3 also. That leaves us with a number of other clubs fighting for the 3rd spot and we just dont have the depth in quality.

We've got a quality striker but he's at Walsall , need to bring him back in Jan, just imagine if we finish 4th and they finish 3rd or we finish 8th and they make to playoffs.
