The Northampton match on the 14th March is the game in hand.Carlisle don’t play that evening so we would then all be on the same number of games played.

We are safe, we have jumped the first hurdle of 50 points. We are amongst the pack with the leader 5 furlongs further ahead . The fences just get bigger now. Let's hope we don't fall at the final fence like in previous years.

I'm predicting Stags will need 81 points to finish in the TOP 3
Current Table
PLD...W...D...L...PTS...PPG
.32...15...7..10....52...1.62
Required for 81 points
PLD...W...D...L...PTS...PPG
.14....9...2...3.....29...2.07
.14....8...5...1.....29...2.07
Stags current PPG 1.62 would total 75 points over a season.
On course to finish in the PLAY-OFFS.
Tough next 4 games.
3 games versus teams in the top 7.
3 games are AWAY.
Last 10 games appear an easier run-in.
7 games versus teams in the bottom half.
6 games at HOME.
Steve Evans Stevenage's poor form, just 2 points from a possible 15 points, means there's probably 7 teams fighting for 2 automatic promotion places.

The next three games are massive and will probably define the season’s outcome.
If we can get two wins or a win and a couple of draws we remain in it but I think if we lose away to each of Stockport and Northampton we are play offs at best.
I’d start Boateng against Orient and give Wallace a rest. Need to be careful on Quinn’s bookings too.

The 5 games from Salford to Stockport were all technically the hardest 5 of the remaining 15 given the opponents respective form home and away. We have the 'easiest' last 10 games of anyone in the Top 10 on paper, so all wouldn't be lost if we struggled in the next 3 - it's about not losing and giving points to Northampton and Stockport really. 5 or 6 points from the next 3 would be amazing - even a loss to Leyton Orient wouldn't be the end of the world if it meant we didnt lose against Northampton and Stockport. I fancy us better away than home at the moment.

March is a tricky month. Every game is a must win and any losses will be devastating. It'll shape our season.

.13....8...2...3.....26...2.00
.13....7...5...1.....26...2.00
Stags current PPG 1.67 would total 77 points over a season (same as last season).
On course to finish in the PLAY-OFFS.
Tough next 3 games
Orient Home
Northampton Away
Stockport Away
Last 10 games appear an easier run-in.
7 games versus teams in the bottom 8.
6 games at HOME.
In the top 8, based on the remaining oppositions PPG (taking into account HOME/AWAY), Stags have the easiest run-in, with Carlisle having by far the most difficult games.
Current PPG
Orient...........2.06
Stevenage.....1.82
Carlisle..........1.79

Northampton..1.74
Bradford........1.73
Stags............1.67
Stockport.......1.62

If we’re still in the position we’re in now after the next 3 games i’d be relatively happy

As stated above we have the easiest overall run in with an average opponent ppg of 1.21 and Carlisle at 1.63. Barrow are the only team to have a statistically easier run in at 1.10.
The average ppg so far this season for all teams is 1.37.
https://www.soccerstats.com/table.asp?l ... nd4&tid=10Our next 3 games are statistically the hardest but we do have bogey teams Sutton and Harrogate still to play. All of the teams above us apart from Stevenage have still got to play form team Gillingham. Stockport have to play them twice.
Of course this is only statistics and not football so anything could happen. Teams at the bottom often get unusual results due to fighting against relegation( or even relaxing a bit once they are relegated/safe) Who would have had Rochdale to beat Stevenage, Bradford and Salford as their only 3 wins in 22 matches?

Especially given we’ve dropped points against three of the bottom four teams.

With Stevenage's recent poor form (only 2 wins in their last 8 games) and Carlisle's difficult run-in (8 out of their 11 games are versus teams in the top 10) its difficult to call which teams will finish 2nd/3rd.

Unlikely but I'm sure we will give it a go.
We need to prioritise getting those injured players, with a chance, fit for the play offs.

Stevenage at home will be a big game, I don't think I could see them get promoted at ours.

Perish the thought. I'd rather walk around Whittington Moor with a nail in my shoe
