We have a squad of 22, 19 outfield players and three goalkeepers.

Presumably you are counting Jimmy Knowles in the squad. NC/ MTFC did the decent thing and gave him a short term contract to hopefully recover from his injury otherwise he would have been let go. He’s in that grey area of not really being available until he is fit but would probably then be released or loaned out.

I thought he had counted Knowles in that but Gale is the 20th man.

Clough said, Gale was Oates replacement in the 19 outfield squad, as he would have gone out on loan if Oates wasn’t injured, the same as Cooper has gone out on loan as we haven’t a centre back not out on a long term injury.

As you can only field a maximum of 15 outfield players a game, then you can have at least 5 players out injured.

Clough’s policy is that he has faith in anybody who is in his first team squad and he is ok in playing any on the list and in any position.

As I understand it, the following are currently injured

Gordon
Harbottle
McLaughlin
Hartigan
Maris
Wallace
Oates
And possibly Swan.

Do we ask some of those to play whilst injured, rush back early or just use youth team players on the bench?

With two players currently on 4 yellow cards, we also have to seriously consider the impact of suspensions on the squad.

Hopefully some of the injuries are only minor and allow players to come back in the very short term but I suppose we will just have to cross our fingers and fight on.

3 of those 8 were injured in the last game.

Are we to assume that Swan was asked to play whilst he still had the viral infection? Considering hew was off with it, played against Derby and is now off with it again.

We might not have enough players to be able to field 16 players overall in a game, if that's the out list on Saturday.

It’s media day today so we’ll be getting some injury updates.

I’m led to believe Hartigan and Swan training, Maris fine after the weekend. Gordon light training. Macca given a few days off to try and train later in the week.

I'm predicting Stags will need 81 points to finish in the TOP 3.

Current Table
PLD...W...D...L...PTS...PPG
.13....8...2...3....26....2.00

Required for 81 points
PLD...W...D...L...PTS...PPG
.33...18..1..14....55...1.67
.33...17..4..12....55...1.67
.33...16..7..10....55...1.67
.33...15..10..8....55...1.67
.33...14..13..6....55...1.67
.33...13..16..4....55...1.67
.33...12..19..2....55...1.67

Stags current PPG 2.00 would total 92 points over a season.

On course for the TOP 3 (Champions form).

7 games unbeaten.

3 of the next 4 games at home.

21 goals in 13 games, Stags are 2nd top scorers.

Only 1 league defeat at Field Mill in the last 12 months (Sutton Utd)

At half-time Stags have only been winning in 1 out of the 13 games, with 10 of the games level, 7 of the games being 0-0.

Yes.

Martin, a few years ago if I thought we could get promoted. I said no, because we were not special and or different to the others. And this is the first team that I think we can for we have the something extra and or special that makes you rise to the top. This team has the work rate and additional abilities to make it. We may stutter along the way due to not clicking as exemplified at Barrow (first half) and in spells today but sit back and enjoy for this may be a season that a generation, not mine, but mainly teenagers on the verge of experiencing a whole wide world, reference for the whole of their lives.

Me, personally I am loving it.

Akins always puts a shift in and never hides unlike a few others.Just leave it to Nigel he rarely gets it wrong.I expect at least the play offs but realistically we should finish top 3.

If we can get 11 points or more from the next 6 games we will be in a very decent position going into the World Cup break and that hopefully will give the players a decent rest. All the games are winnable.
