I dont think Johnson will play for us again. I'd imagine he would be sold in Jan or extended loan.

I also can't see Walsall finishing above us. They look like a mid table team

But what if they do, look at us this time last season, I would rather him to go to a team in another division.

We have a quality striker who will be with us before January, his name is Oates.

So would I but it might not happen. I can't see Johnson coming back in Jan and scoring loads of goals for us, I'd love to be quoted in May and being completely wrong though.

Forget about him. Just be happy he’s not at a promotion rival and can’t play against us. Hopefully he carries on scoring and we get a decent fee for him in January.

I think the best we can hope for with Johnson is he scores goals that nick points off our rivals.

I'm predicting Stags will need 81 points to finish in the TOP 3.

Current Table
PLD...W...D...L...PTS...PPG
.15....8...3...4....27....1.80

Required for 81 points
PLD...W...D...L...PTS...PPG
.31...18..0..13....54...1.74
.31...17..3..11....54...1.74
.31...16..6...9.....54...1.74
.31...15..9...7.....54...1.74
.31...14..12..5....54...1.74
.31...13..15..3....54...1.74
.31...12..18..1....54...1.74

Stags current PPG 1.8 would total 83 points over a season.

On course for the TOP 3.

The next 2 games at home.

23 goals in 15 games, Stags are 3rd top scorers.

Only 1 league defeat at Field Mill in the last 12 months (Sutton Utd)

Bizarrely, at half-time Stags have only been winning in 1 out of the 15 games.
Based solely on 1st half goals Stags would be 21st,
whereas based solely on 2nd half goals Stags would be 3rd.

.30...14..12..5....54...1.80
.30...13..15..2....54...1.80
.30...12..18..0....54...1.80

Stags current PPG 1.69 would total 78 points over a season.

On course for the PLAY-OFFS.

25 goals in 16 games, Stags are 3rd top scorers.

Bizarrely, at half-time Stags have only been winning in 1 out of the 16 games.
Based solely on 1st half goals Stags would be 21st,
whereas based solely on 2nd half goals Stags would be 6th.

Stags now gone 3 games without a win, the 1st time since last October.

Looking at our defence, I can’t see us securing a top 3 place. Hopefully we can rectify that in January.
To be a top 3 club you need to have a strong defence. Our defence currently consists mainly of strikers playing out of position - and swapping positions 3 times within a game. It is a mess that quickly needs rectifying in order to achieve a top 3 position.

Not a good sign is the fact that of the teams we faced last season who will.know more about us we have won only 3 out of 11 (W3 D3 L5 PPG 1.1)

If we can keep Gordon, Hewitt, Hawkins, Harbottle and Macca fully fit and on form for the rest of the season we will be fine.

I’m not so sure. Of those mentioned, Gordon & Macca are carrying long-term injuries and only Hewitt is really playing at the required standard at the moment, in my opinion.
I believe that switching to a back 4 is the answer - as O’Toole looked solid in that formation & Perch/Harbottle/Hawkins also might be better suited to a back 4. And Hewitt is a better full back than Gordon. This would be the quickest way to resolve our defensive frailties with the players we currently have.

Even now, Yes. I am certain we will at least make the play offs. On top of that, We might win the pizza trophy. So things aren't bad at all.

The question is whether we will make the Top 3, not the playoffs or pizza trophy.....

Current Table
PLD...W...D...L...PTS...PPG
.17....8...3...6....27....1.59

.29...15..9...5.....54...1.86
.29...14..12..3....54...1.86
.29...13..15..1....54...1.86

Stags current PPG 1.59 would total 73 points over a season.

On course for the PLAY-OFFS.

26 goals in 17 games, Stags are 2nd top scorers.

Only 5 teams have conceded more goals than Stags (23 goals in 17 games)

Bizarrely, at half-time Stags have only been winning in 1 out of the 17 games (Gillingham A).
Based solely on 1st half goals Stags would be 21st.
Based solely on 2nd half goals Stags would be 5th.

Stags now gone 4 games without a win, the 1st time since September last season.

Ten points better off than last season at this stage of the season, however six points down comparing against teams we have played.

The sad thing for me is that even though we clearly 'could' break into the top 3 - only 5 points off, very poor standard, I just don't think we can despite yesterday's win because we're too old and slow and unbalanced. No proper striker. No proper defenders. We need a huge January for me to change that thinking.

I'm predicting Stags will need 81 points to finish in the TOP 3.

Current Table
PLD...W...D...L...PTS...PPG
.19....9...3...7....30....1.58

Required for 81 points
PLD...W...D...L...PTS...PPG
.27...17..0..10....51...1.89
.27...16..3...8.....51...1.89
.27...15..6...6.....51...1.89
.27...14..9...4.....51...1.89
.27...13..12..1....51...1.89
.27...12..15..0....51...1.89

Stags current PPG 1.58 would total 73 points over a season.

On course for the PLAY-OFFS.

27 goals in 19 games, Stags are 4th top scorers.

Only 3 teams have conceded more goals than Stags (Harrogate, Hartlepool, Crawley).

Bizarrely, at half-time Stags have only been winning in 1 out of the 19 games (Gillingham A).
Based solely on 1st half goals Stags would be 21st.
Based solely on 2nd half goals Stags would be 3rd.

There are only 2 teams with worse current form over the last 6 games than Stags, and they are the bottom 2 (Hartlepool, Gillingham).

Ideally, need to win 3 out the next 4 games to keep in striking distance of the top 3 at the halfway stage (23 games).
Colchester Home
Stevenage Away
Grimsby Home
Northampton Home

Stags are one of only a few teams still scheduled to play on Saturday 3rd December at 3.00pm (v Colchester).
If England go through their group in 2nd place they'll be playing at the same time!
