You can hope for a positive outcome but expect a negative one.

I really want us to finish in the top 7, however my opinion is we wont (because of the injuries)

I was momentarily terrified then that I wouldn't find out why you didn't think we'd make the top 7, so thank you for clarifying it by explaining it was because of the injuries

I'm really not convinced it's the 2 horse race between us and Salford that people think it is.

Carlisle have drawn a fair few lately and got a tough away day derby match at Barrow this weekend. With Barrow having nothing much to go for league-wise they should be well up for that game and we have a game in hand over Carlisle too. They have Salford to play on the last game of the season so one of them has to drop points then.

Barrow v Carlisle - tough as above
Sutton v Carlisle - we never like going to Sutton!
Carlisle v Salford - as above

Bradford slipped up against Swindon who looked a poor side on Good Friday, and they face a different kind of Gillingham this weekend.

Bradford v Gillingham - only an outstanding performance from us beat the Gills a few weeks back, so will be tough
Northampton v Bradford - you'd expect Cobblers still have the top 3 to secure
Crewe v Bradford - one they would be looking to win
Bradford v Orient - it's Orient but they'll be champions and on the beach

I can see us, Salford, Carlisle and Bradford going till the end for a playoff spot with any one of those 4 being unlucky.

Bookies have Bradford 1/25, Carlisle 1/14, Mansfield 1/3 and Salford 5/6 for a top seven finish.

Were 12/1 to finish in the Top 3, which is about an 8% probability. Stevenage 1/6, Northampton 1/5, Bradford 4/1, Stockport 9/2, Carlisle 10/1, Mansfield 12/1, Salford 100/1

I admire your positivity. I've got everything crossed for seventh place and the likes of Macca, Maris and Swann fit for the playoffs.

I think we've got to be realistic about the 'players coming back from injury for the play offs' bit. Whilst there may be one or two who are injury free by then, they won't be within a million miles of being match fit. Therefore not 100% effective. I also suspect that as the stakes are raised a couple may be patched up, dosed on pain killers and played half fit, a tactic that has never worked and never will. Beckham, Rooney, Ronaldo Mk 1, Bryan Robson etc etc etc. Hope I'm wrong but I think we're going to have to go with what we've got.

I can just see us winning our three home games despite the opposition everyone is putting a shift in it might not be pretty but its just how i see it we will get a few more back and it will help us then i look at other teams fixtures i see slip ups a plenty but i am an optimist

Orient will be hungover I hope! Atmosphere was great this afternoon if we can replicate that and the performance we'll have a great chance.

Carlisle v Salford
Leyton v Stockport
Northampton v Bradford
Could change the whole look of the auto/ play-offs by 5pm next Saturday, although Salford still might score at 5.01 pm.

I'll tell you what, wherever we end up at seasons end I'll be going straight down the bookies to put a tenner on Walsall being relegated next season. Late, late goals against ten men? Absolute eunuchs. Bitter and twisted cos they rolled over for Salford? Possibly but really? Where's their cojones?

Cannot afford to lose Tues night. A point puts a PO spot in our own hands for the last two in the fact we just need to match Slaford's results to stay 7th.
To blow it all and finish 8th would top the lot in the Mansfield Town way of doing things.
Obviously technically if we out score Slaford in the last few games by two it'd do but that'd be the 'hard way' wouldn't it and too nerve shredding to comprehend.

Does nobody think that this approach seems to be reverse Mansfield Town?
Over the years we've blown it from strong positions. This time around we've had every obstacle thrown in the way but are clinging on despite it. Two defeats in eighteen at the back end of the season makes us the unlikely form team despite an injury room that looks like Agincourt.

Maybe this could be the way.
