Many times. The standout one was on the day of Hillsborough. I remember standing on the terrace in the corner listening to my Walkman to the events happening at Hillsborough. I think we lost 3-0 but it was the death toll that kept going up on the sombre coach journey home as we listened on the radio. Awful day.

In my 50 plus years of supporting Stags its one of the few grounds I have never been to. Some of the posts on here about Gillingham are not much of an encouragement for making a day of it but on the list of things to do in Gillingham I have found the Royal Engineers Museum so if we get there early enough I might pop in there for a wander around.

I wonder if we’ll have any fit forwards for the game?

Last time I went was a 0-0, more remembered for the being the same day as Hillsborough. Can remember hearing about it as the game wore on and no one believing such a thing could happen then listening to the radio on Taylor’s bus on the way home

Yes, you'll find them in defence. ;)

Spiro will be hanging on to the Fred by his fingernails. A very late comeback to grab a point. 2-2.

I was at Hillsborough on that dreadful day on 15th April 1989. Stood on the Kop with the Forest fans. The first thing my friend said as we entered the ground at around 2.30pm was "I would not want to be behind the Liverpool goal. They are packed in like sardines." We never understood why the police did not block off the tunnel leading to the two pens behind the goal. There was plenty of space on the terraces at either side of the Leppings Lane End. The Inquest suggested that 30 out of the 96 victims would certainly have been saved if this had happened as they were still outside the ground at 2.52pm when David Duckenfield ordered the gates to be opened. They just ran towards the tunnel and their own death. Most football fans anxious to see the game would probably have done the same thing.

I sat in the Leppings Lane End around ten years' ago and it was still not clear to me going through the turnstiles how you got around to the sides. The natural reaction once you are through the turnstiles is to head for the tunnel which is straight in front of you although nowadays the away fans are normally just in the upper tier. Very sad and so avoidable.

I think you represented Stags fans brilliantly with well thought out answers

The only previous Stags game that he has refereed was the 3-2 home win over Swindon last season. Martin gave him a 7.

Gillingham Team News:

Scott Kashket (groin) is a doubt after coming off at half-time in the 1-1 draw at Grimsby. Haji Mnoga will be available for selection after serving his one-match suspension. Olly Lee (foot) and Dom Jefferies (quad) will be assessed until the last minute ahead of Saturday’s game. Robbie McKenzie could retain his place in the starting XI, having played against Grimsby on Tuesday

Mika Mandron has looked a handful in some of the Gillingham games this season. He's only scored one goal though. Glenn Morris is a good keeper although he spilt one against Grimsby.

Gillingham haven’t scored or won (which clearly they wouldn’t do if not scored) in their last 3 home league games.

that stat in itself makes me nervous
