In Memoriam: Steve Hartshorn (1968 - 2022)

The club was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of lifelong supporter Steve Hartshorn, at the age of 54.

Many supporters will fondly remember Steve, who held a number of roles in service to the club and its fans.

What a beautiful tribute that is and lovely words from Stevo who has summed Steve up perfectly.

A lovely tribute from Stevo. I enjoyed talking to Steve at Field Mill and listening to his away commentaries. He replied to me on social media at the end of August to say he was enjoying the Sex Pistols mini series. He loved his football, music and his dogs. Another Stags fan goes to the Great Field Mill In The Sky.

R.I.P. Steve

Condolences to Debbie and his family.

So I ran my local Parkrun this morning with Stags shirt (for Dave Smith) and FTYBR shirt (for Steve Hartshorn) completing it in a new local Parkrun PB time.

If FTYBR were playing being Saturdays we're ordinarily match days, kickoff would be 10am as I recall, maybe at 10am we spare a moment to reflect for Steve?

Very sad news, shocked and saddened.

https://www.mansfieldtown.net/news/2022/september/in-memoriam-steve-hartshorn-1968--2022/

“Steve was a good man, with a mischievous sense of humour and rarely short of a quip or comment!

Stevo's quote from the memoriam - sums up perfectly the Steve I knew, shared many a home and away trip with Steve in the late 80's, early 90's, and without fail I'd be laughing at Steve's quips.

Had some brilliant away trips playing for FTYBR FC, below, Steve overseen a 3-0 win over Leyton Orienteer on Hackney Marshes.

I’ve just tried to find the link to the commentary from the game against the Spirities in 2003 where Bradley got sent off, if my memory serves me correctly Steve just cracked up laughing. I thought it was somewhere on Stagsnet but I can’t find it, it would be lovely to hear it again.

I’ll be wearing my FTYBR drill top at the game tonight for you gaffer.

For those who don’t know Steve’s funeral is on Thursday at 10am at Kingsway cemetery in Kirkby. Steve will have one last visit to Field Mill en route around 9.30am if anyone would like to be there to pay their respects. We’re all wearing football/Stags shirts for him.

Thanks Dan. Do you know whether the Field Mill car park will be open for those wishing to pay their respects to Steve, please?

Hi all, If anyone is wanting to pay their respects to Steve please can you be at the ground before 9.15 as I have been informed that the cars will be at the ground a little earlier than initially thought.

Hope the service went as well as possible.

I'll always remember Steve's voice. It reminds me of sitting with my grandad who's also passed away now, listening to the Stags away games as a kid on the radio. Some special memories for me!

RIP.

It was lovely mate. He had a burial at Kirkby and we all wore Stags shirts for him so it looked brilliant. A few of us helped lay him to rest which was nice as none of us knew we could do it until we got there. Stu, Bono and Nigel Pinnick/James Bradley gave some beautiful speeches and then we all went back to the cockle to reminisce about the good times. It was nice to see a lot of old faces at Field Mill beforehand as well. Fair play to Wilfred who travelled all the way from Leeds way just to be at the ground to see Steve before he went to the cemetery.
