If car's were parked either side of the street you'd struggle to get demolition/construction plant up there anyway.
And btw a wheeled digger/plant machinery will sink into the pitch more than tracks unless supported.

Would you push for the redevelopment of the stand at the detriment of the playing squad? Whether that be settling for a lower class of player or selling one of our saleable assets to fund it?
That's a very short term argument. The longer-term view is that having a better bigger stadium allows us to have bigger attendances selling more stuff and having more things to sponsor and advertise on etc.
That all creates revenue and supports a higher playing budget.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

Quote from Carolyn at the time.
“We need to do something about the Bishop Street Stand, but the problem is there is a lot of infrastructure issues so we are hoping that the council will be easy to work with for access and things like that."
Theres practically nothing else being built in the town so you would hope the council would assist where possible.

It’s not really wooden, the plastic seats are on concrete bases. It was just condemned for being generally unsafe & if you saw behind the boards you’d see why. I don’t think the structure is safe either which makes a mockery of cameramen having to go into it to climb a ladder to get to the gantry.
It was all wood originally, and I think that the main structure is wood and there's a lot of wooden boarding. But it's more that I remember that wooden stands were condemned in general, and the Bishop Street was closed at the same time.
I used to sit over there and it is almost entirely concrete now, I also went in there with Dan when the stadium was being demolished in 2001. I think all the wood in there was ripped out post-Bradford in the mid-80's. It's clearly not safe anymore and would probably cost more to repair than to demolish and replace.
In answer to 1970's post, yes grants are available from the Football Foundation and EFL Stadia Fund and possibly others if the stand was multi-purpose.
Musings, I don't think money is the issue and do not think it is one or the other. Despite our huge wage budget the club are pretty much on an even keel (I think the last loss from the newly published accounts was circa 50k) and as Lincoln have shown, the stand can be built without being hugely costly to the club itself - obviously depending on what you build!

Did anyone hear the 5pm news on 103.2
A MTFC director sorry didn’t catch his name gave a interview saying it was his specialty in building stands as Steve Hymas was at building the training complex
This director said he was pushing for the stand to be refurbished and he would be making sure it would happen

I heard it, it was Sid Pepper I believe, putting his idea to the other board members soon. Here's hoping.

It's obviously the easiest option but the capacity increase would be small unless they extend it. We could put away fans in there though, SAG permitting.

Would look good if we could do this and extend it along to the scoreboard
Would be another 1,000/1500 or so I’d imagine?

According to the interview this morning on 103.2 it would add 1000 more seats.

Would that be enough to satisfy the FA Cup rule about making 15% of your total capacity for away fans?

I wouldn't be surprised if a simple refurb and extension along the side utilising what's already there makes sense for now.
We need the capacity and this solution sounds like the.most implementable solution to be ready next season.
We might be better off doing that and filling in the corners between QLE, west stand lower and North stand. At least that we we could get some more corporate space, a new club shop and another supporters bar in as well as improving capacity.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

Some say we need extra capacity and currently during this successful period we do but will we need it next season should we be in L1?
The casual supporters will soon drop out when we lose a game or two. Not being negative, just putting that thought into the miix.

I think a lot of casual supporters have come here due to the success of Forest too and being unable to get tickets there.
The Clough factor has helped a few come and see us instead - whether that remains long-term we shall have to see, because watching it at home never beats being at an actual game - and if Forest go back down will tickets there become more easily available again in the Championship?

A different slant on the argument but a good theory, let's hope Florist stay up.
