Since then we have been behind last season's points total but last night we eventually caught up with last season's points total.

Last season our last four matches were two wins and two draws. Looks like we are going to need similar to make the play offs this season.

I've been saying for a month we'll finish 7th again. Hope I'm right, I can't see it being higher.

Great stats these Musings. Really shows that after the minutes drop off after Clarke that we’ve largely had 11 players doing the bulk of the minutes since January.

Basically you can arrange the top 11 players into a 4-4-2 and they have been the first team by and large. That the oldest player (I think) has done the most minutes since January is crazy. Didn’t realise that Maris had only effectively played 5 full games since January either, and he’s half way up the appearances! We’ve missed a lot of those players.

Oh goody. Now we are back at least level, I’m sure we might get reminded about it again :D

Would be interesting to compare the games missed through injury/suspension of the first team from this season to last..

As a team the Stags have won six more games than losses including cup games this season.
(21 wins, 15 defeats in 49 games)

There are only three players who when starting games have won more than six games than they have lost.

O.Clarke 12 (16 wins, 4 defeats in 28 starts)
L. Akins 11 (18 wins, 7 defeats in 35 starts)
E. Hewitt 8 (16 wins, 8 defeats in 37 starts)

It just shows how important these players are to the stags.

Thought this was an interesting article, not all about stats really but wasn’t sure which other thread to use.

Thanks to Andy Saunders who just sent me this.

Northampton Town and Salford City did the best of the clubs who used U23 players the most.

I get you, I thought we were referring to the comments by some about Louis Reed not being very good!

"Grimsby Town chairman Jason Stockwood has explained how a data-led approach could help the club in all aspects, including commercial value and increased performance on the pitch. The Mariners announced a new partnership with sports intelligence firm Twenty First Group last week, in the hope that decision making process regarding all sides of the club will be enhanced by their new partners’ use of data intelligence."

"Jon Brady, supported by chairman Kelvin Thomas and chief executive James Whiting, drove changes to the way Northampton recruit players when he was made permanent manager following relegation to League Two a couple of years ago. Assistant boss Colin Calderwood has also taken on more responsibility, and all of those changes bore fruit last week when Town won promotion to League One. "We had a big review a couple of years ago and we changed a lot of things,” said Chief Executive, James Whiting. "We have a lot of really good regional scouts and there's the software and data analysis that we use to back up our decisions."

I don’t think our injury situation is unrelated to this stat.
