I think after three games you must have come to the same conclusion as I and many other supporters have, that being, you can't fill your team with "Jacks of all trades". You do need specialists in the spine of the team, you know that better than anyone.
Goalkeeper - sorted.
Centre-back - half way there, we still need a mobile central defender.
Striker - we again are halfway there but we need another experienced body to help and guide Oates.
The two lads on loan from Nottingham Forest have potential but neither are the finished article.
The supporters have excelled themselves regarding season ticket sales, showing great faith in you and the club. The side is at least a centre back short, Hawkins can go back up top and we would be,a better side.
Putting square pegs in round holes has delivered 2 sending offs at centre-back in four first team fixtures.
Not good enough for a team fancied for a top three spot.
That's told him.oldweststander wrote:Hi,

Your point about the Forest lads, I think they’ve looked more than adequate in the games so far. And the only way they’re going to become the finished article as you say, is by playing more games, that is what they’re here for.
We’ve outshot the opposition in every game so far, things are looking promising as far as I’m concerned.

So were Port Vale.diablo wrote:Its early doors yet...but pretty obvious to everyone that we need another experienced defender. We are looking very vulnerable at the back last night especially on the wings, but on the other side of the coin Derby were pretty quick on the break , not many teams like that in League 2..a lot depends upon Perch reaching match fitness after having a poor pre season fitness wise

Yes, most certainly.
Two makeshift centre backs sent off in the last four games, I include the play off final, plus we have not tested the opposition goalkeepers nearly enough, shot count means nothing if you hit the stand.
To be fair Bobby, wouldn't it be better scoring goals now rather than waiting until January to try and rescue the situation.

We're playing Bowery at centre half after 2 and a half games. Think he may have a point.

For half a game, in a cup game, when other players were being rested and the league being prioritised.
