How many games will he miss for that? Considering he's a striker and defender for us, it's almost like losing 2 players especially considering that we're already short in those areas already.

HELLO NIGEL

Bowery is a disaster doing defensive work. I always worry when he's facing his own net.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

Macca with a free kick 35 yards out. Goes for goals and keeper tips around the post.

I’m sorry but he’s a forward not a defender. Think it might be Oates turn to do a job back there Saturday

MAris takes the corner, Hewitt has an attempt cleared off the line. Derby break and Maris gets in a great tackle.

Derby have the ball in the net. Pym error but it's offside.

Swan Breaks into the area and cynically brought down. Clear goalscoring opportunity but only a yellow.

Our last two sendings off were forwards playing at centre half! This really is getting annoying.

We don't do well in this cup do we? Since we got promoted to the football league we've won 1 game in this competition in 10 years.

We have had some tough draws to be fair.

LOTS to be positive about.

Maybe if we could start playing forwards uptop and defenders in defence and it’d really help moving forward.

I find it really hard to get excited by this cup. Sounds like we gave it a good shot. Looking forward to watching the game on iFollow tomorrow.

Does anyone know for definite whether Bowery’s red card bans him for league games?

Had to settle for the radio whilst away tonight, sounds like we gave it a good go second half. TalkSPORT 2 were full of praise for us but sounds like their two subs made the difference,

Considering Akins injured and Bowery banned I would expect Gordon RWB and Swan to partner Oates on Saturday at Orient.

That leaves us with no sub striker though, which shows just how quickly different situations can materialise. We have our forward options playing every position on the pitch so tiredness/injuries/Bans are inevitable and when we need to change the front our options can quickly become limited as we are now seeing. One injury and one ban and all of a sudden we don’t have a real sub striker?

For me It’s absolutely imperative that we sign either another forward, or another CB to free Hawkins up to play up top. Heading in to a game already with no sub striker should be a bit of a warning sign imo.

On the game though, it’s a shame not to go through. Sick of going out early doors in this competition when there’s a host of premier league clubs in round 2. Our record since coming up has been pretty poor in the competition, but at least it sounds like we made a good fight of it. Bigger game coming up on Saturday.

A quick Google search says that yellow cards picked up in the competitions are competition specific but red cards carry over to league games?

I was under the impression that all cards are competition specific though.

Correct, yellows competition specific, reds across all, slight difference for PJT.

Hawkins has to start up front going forward, looked a different side with him playing there. Now we have Hewitt JJ and Harbottle to play as the 3, it’s a no brainer for me.

Looked a different team second half, shame to say that it’s probably time to drop Quinn to the bench next game as he’s looking a yard off.

Plenty to be positive to be about after tonight

The heat won’t help him on Saturday either. 33 degrees will be a slog for anyone, let alone somebody at that stage of their career.
