Akins first touch isn’t great, which is my frustration with him and he should be at RWB.

Oates looks off the pace still and Hawkins had his usual 2 game blunders and picked up a needless booking.

Today showed we need another CF but we aren’t too far off a great team

Hawkins was a rock today, he played very well I think.
Although maybe you'd have preferred Hawkins to let their man go past him and score... sometimes you have to take one for the team.

I thought he was good first half, seemed to all go a bit mental in the 10 minutes after we scored

Sorry I thought I deleted that. I was typing something else out and it put in in the reply box on here. I thought I'd got rid of it. That wasn't the attendance. That's my fault.

Maybe they know more about football than you..Akins first touch and control is very poor...in fairness Tranmere's Centre half had him in his pocket most of the afternoon generally by trying to remove his shirt...his shooting is powder puff weak and he should have scored from the dolly side foot volley..Sorry but he is worse than Reid and that is saying something...not saying he doesn't try and make an effort but surely the Manager should have played Akins RWB with Bowery up front..Lapslie should start as should Clarke..tough game today onward and upward...Pym and Boateng outstanding today

Surprised it was over 7000 … there were 1,100 empty seats in the North Stand and the IGU where sit wasn’t anywhere near full. Liverpool FA cup game - when the entire stadium was full - only achieved 7.5K

I'm looking forward to seeing the Cantona kick their man didn't get punished for. Absolutely atrocious reffing.

That was the announced figure over the tannoy on about 75 minutes.

I thought that figure was low, but it might have been the crowd numbers in ground at 3pm.

Twitter official says 7128 with 621 away fans

I am just wondering if this figure was number of tickets sold because of the trouble with the scanners.

It wasn’t a needless booking, they were on the counter with two of our defenders out of the game. He had no choice.

Yep. Was a good foul from Hawkins and was worth the booking.

Boateng, Hawkins and Pym were terrific today. Can’t get over how good Boateng is. He bossed it in there today.

No chance 7 thousand plus. That is an obvious error.

Totally agree Diablo. Akins is a bench warmer at best. Lapslie must be wondering how the hell Akins starts up front rather than him.

Thought Akins did well today, constantly fouled all game but always available to get us up the pitch.

I disagree. It was born out of frustration for us not getting a free kick seconds before

In Maris, Quinn and Boateng I would go as far as to say we have the best midfield in the division, I thought they were magnificent.

Hawkins was superb in defence and got himself in the right place at the right time on several occasions.

Bowery had a very good game a RWB with the exception of the horror back pass.

I thought Harbottle had a good game and mostly looked very assured.

Oates wasn’t quite at it and I don’t think Akins was any better or worse than I’ve seen him previously, a few heavy touches and loss of possession mixed with some decent hold up play and a very fine effort on goal at the end of the game. personally prefer Bowery up front and I think Oates plays better with Jordan alongside him.

Overall a thoroughly deserved three points and a note on Tranmere who in the closing stages looked like they were all completely shattered.

Agree with most of that, I would say Hawkins was decent rather than superb but as you say the midfield trio of Maris, Quinn and Boateng were excellent. I'd definitely prefer Bowery up front, as AWC said, with either Akins or Hewitt at RWB. Oates and Macca were not at their best.

I agree with others that there is absolutely no way was the attendance 7,100  I even got a cup i
of tea today!
