Can't fault that interview. Looks like it depends on what Danny wants to commit himself to. I also think our new signings and possibly playing with a confident back four now will improve prospects for Danny.

A player appearing at the right place and right time is certainly something we have been missing this season. How many times have we thought ooooooo great cross or ball played into the middle. And nobody is in that key spot.

We also have a lot of new players who may be able to feed DJ

Certainly a lot to think about for NC. From the interview I doubt he will feature Saturday in case Walsall up their offer. Surely the club DJ turned down would be Colchester.

If nothing then happens. NC may play him the week after, and stranger things have happened in football, he may score a few. Saying that he may be the not fitting into NC style player he was before and we are kicking ourselves at not signing a player who is

Time will tell, it always does

Or if anyone got injured.

You mean winning games and scoring dont you

Maybe the system was wrong.... :o

All the systems we play will not suit DJ
None of the 451, 4141, 541, 4321 or 5311 systems will

But a 442 Diamond would......
If that's the case, it makes you wonder why we signed him in the first place.

Cos NC signed him to play in a front two...which he did at the start but then we changed tactics and played one up top when he was out injured and Hawkins had by then moved to Centre half.....Walsall play him up top alongside another striker......just like we should now be doing

I think it is best all round if he doesn't play Saturday. However, if we don't score this board will be red hot.

Could it be a win/win for the Stags?
Don’t play him Saturday, then get a fee for him…..or
Play him, and have a proven goal scorer for the rest of the season.

Only way the Stags could lose is if they play him, then NC leaves him off the team sheet for the rest of the season…and he leaves on a free in June. OR…..we play him and he gets a bad injury..
Fortunately we don’t appear to have a stubborn manager……

Danny Johnson has the same agent as Jimmy Knowles, Callum Johnson and Keller-Dunn at Burton.

We won 4 -1 , Swan got 3 and Maris the other so I would say no Geoff...

Depends on Danny's line of thought.

1) He clearly doesn't want to move away from the area.

2) He says he doesn't want to commit to anywhere for more than six months, so a half reasonable fee is unlikely unless he changes on that score.

3) Would imagine MTFC have a years option on him should they want to invoke it.

4) If both Nigel and Danny sincerely commit to each other until May then we keep him and see where we are in May.

At the end of the day, whatever happens, it is all down to Danny Johnson to make his mind up in an open and honest way.

To be fair to Geoff I think he was going off an earlier post which did say DJ had scored. Which also said about DJ taking his shirt off ! With what came later it was a joke post.

If he doesn't want to commit anywhere for more than six months (which is his right), makes you wonder if he is any happier playing for Walsall than us.

As Swan has a better goal ratio this season than Danny, his emphatic hat trick would seem to be his comment on the prospect of being sidelined by the Walsall striker.
Sounds like Johnson is back simply so negotiations can be completed, so I'll be surprised if he's in the squad for Saturday.

If Johnson was not already a Stags player, this board would be screaming for us to sign him... and be delighted if we got him.

If he’s a player who is willing to knuckle down, wants to play for the club and is not a disruptive element in the dressing room then he would be very welcome back.

I'm probably in a minority but I think the best chance of us scoring plenty would be a front 2 of Johnson and Swan.

Seems a bit harsh but I think Oates has been off it since his return and would be better used as an impact sub for a while.

I am a big Oates fan but agree with your view. He has been struggling as of late.
