A few probably thought this was a moan about how old the squad is. You'd be incorrect. After rip-roaring success (2 pages
) of the loan XI thread I thought about doing the same and making an XI surrounding players who were 30+ when they signed for us (contract renewals do not count but does count if they re joined the club when 30+).
No current players or its just easy mode for some.
Richie Barker, Neal Bishop, Alan Marriott springs to mind.

Killer Kilcline, Scott Sellars, Ned Kelly to name a few. Tony Ford who was about 107 when he signed for us under Steve Parkin.

As an OAP myself, I would suggest Johnny Quigley, important in the 68-9 FA Cup run.

Dudley Roberts, Keith Cassells, Phil Stant and Richie Barker do not qualify. All under 30 when they signed for the Stags.
Note: Steve Whitehall does qualify (double checked using Steve Hartshorn's book)

Steve Whitehall was born in 1966 and signed for us in 1997?

Not many will be old enough to have seen him but Bill Curry was 'about 30' when he joined us from Derby in 1965 and he scored 53 goals in 102 matches for us. I guess he could have been just under 30, or a bit over, I don't know. Someone will tell us.
He was the equal best header of a ball I've ever seen, on a par with Denis Law, like whom he wasn't that tall. His goal tally was sensational.
BLACK LIVES MATTER so I applaud players 'taking a knee'

According to MTFC site George Cooper was born on 1/1/1901 so that must set the all time record for the oldest player!
