Will Swan will likely be the forward then.

Has to be with Clough's links there and the location. Harbottle and Swann would do us nicely :coys:

Not sure why anyone would be enthused by Will Swan. Had a disappointing loan spell at Port Vale two seasons ago and that’s it. Would be a massive long shot that he makes a difference if we signed him.

Tyler Walker hardly set the world alight on his loan at Port Vale either..

He wasn't to bad for us was he....

Prior to joining us, Tyler Walker had made 38 championship appearances for Forest and Bolton playing in front of big crowds, 12 league One appearances, and 8 League 2 appearances. The season prior to joining us he had made 20 appearances in all comps at Championship level.

That’s plenty more experience than Swan whose only experience of competitive mens football is 10 games behind closed doors for Port Vale where he scored once.

Can’t compare the two because they’re not at all similar. Walker had 10x more pedigree.

Clough said in his interview that had the league started in October we would have got promoted. That is correct. From the 1st October to the end of the season we accrued 68 points which was the 3rd most, with Rovers and Exeter both getting 70. We didn’t break our winless run until the 30th October, so that still includes five winless league games at the start of October.

Given he brought this stat up, I think he feels justified in saying that the squad was strong enough to go up automatically but for player unavailability at key times.

That squad is now minus Bishop, Rawson, Longstaff, Stirk and Murphy who all played a decent chunk of games. I think Clough sees Boateng as Longstaffs replacement. Flinders replaces Bishop for now with the hope of another goalkeeper to come in. The young defender will replace Rawson and the attacker to replace Murphy (as well as the one more attacker we’re still looking for. Stirk hasn’t been replaced, but Clough seem to hint there was a chance he may be back, but that we were well stocked in midfield nevertheless.

We have to see how age effects the likes of Perch/Quinn etc, and how the replacements live compare to those who have departed. We won’t know that until we seen them play.

Good summary.

Rawson and Murphy no great loss. I liked Longstaff but he was a bit wimpy at times and let the game pass him by. Just need a quality attacker / striker too.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

Must be an assumption that’s he’s way past it.
