Rainworth MW Centenary Year

Postby 88BenM » Sat Jun 18, 2022 4:26 pm

100 years of Rainworth this coming season! A great achievement for the club to get to such a milestone.

I have dealings with Craig Weston, the RMWFC manager, at work and was talking to him recently, he says they've tried to get MTFC to send a team of some form for a Friendly at Kirklington Road to celebrate the centenary and they've been unable to do so!

I found that extremely disappointing, always enjoyed a day out in the sunshine at Rainworth and a few pints. Even a youth team with some trialists will drag a 200+ attendance for them and that can be crucial in the upkeep of the club and its facilities!

I know this post isn't going to generate a friendly for them, but maybe some of the locals will take a trip to watch them to help boost income!

Maybe somebody from MTFC will read this and potentially help out too.

Theirs not to reason why
Theirs but to do and die

I think it's Retford Town.

He did put Mark Hawkins in as chairman a few years ago but I do not think there was a potential takeover by Radford.
I think his son Jack was on the books at Rainworth about that time.

Shoot me down if you wish but in my opinion the club was better run and both the football and cricket pitch immaculate when Alan Wright was in charge.

The highs didn’t last though must have cost the club a fair penny.
