Nartey Released By Burnley. Will We?

Postby Class of 02 » Fri Jun 10, 2022 6:57 pm

Announced just now. Wonder if we might take him? Get a good pre season under his belt, keep him injury free and we could have a gem on our hands. Any thoughts?

Didn’t seemed strong enough for a centre back when I saw him play them two games.

If he's cheap and decent value for money then why not?

He was brought in while injured and although conceded 6 goals in the 2 games he played it really isn't enough to judge on. Let's not forget Hewitt was also at CB those days. Gordon was at RB too. For me Gordon isn't a right back and I prefer Hewitt at RB. So I won't judge him on 2 games. Especially considering those games were game 5 and 6 of our 14 game run without a win.

The downside is some make their minds up about players and struggle to allow them to change their minds.

Tough to tell, he looked pretty poor but looked pretty poor like everyone else when he was pretty poor.

He didn’t strike me as being particularly quick, and given the combined age of the defence seems to be 536 someone with pace might work.

I cant see NC looking at him again but we clearly never got to see the best of him..

Some of the comments on here are laughable.

That he played, when by his own admission, he was injured speaks volumes of the man’s character. He put himself before the team. This attitude makes him a big no in Nigel’s team ethos.

Slow of pace, passing not great, didn’t do the basics of getting tight and by others covering his mistakes we ended up with Clarke (I think) and then Quinniesta dismissed.

His career is along the lines of a poor man’s Jacob Mellis but without the ability. Every move from Chelsea a downward one.

It is a resounding no from me.

The fact we had him still on loan but let him train and play for Burnley kids rather than having him here tells you everything...

I guess we don't want him and he was only for extreme emergency situations.

Hope not. Even cutting him some slack if he wasn't fully fit, he just isn't physical enough for a League 2 centre half.

Absolutely not. Far too small to be a league two centre back. Made countless errors in the few games he played and he’s got the build of a nippy winger rather than a centre back.

Don’t think we will, even if the rumours are true that he was injured from the start and therefore capable of more he potentially hid it from us which would mean we couldn’t trust him? I expect Clough to have other options in the pipeline.

It's no rumour. Clough signed a known injured player on loan well 2. Because he signed both Will Forrester and Nartey on loan who were recovering from injuries.

Or was Nartey injured here after a few games? We had that many injuries back then I'm not 100% sure. Forrester definitely was injured.
