It will suit Clough. I believe he complained earlier in the season that it had swapped back to 3 subs a game.
Clough is a cautious manager in this regard. Waits until late on in a game to make changes in case we go down to 10 men due to injury.
With 5 subs we can make 1 sub at half time if something isn't work. 2 more around the 60th minute to freshen us up and still have 2 left over just in case. We saw a few times where Clough, arguably, didn't make changes until late on that were needed before then. That is my opinion, of course.
