I’m not sure where I saw it and maybe it was just speculation with the Clough connection.

Edit

I’ve just looked on the Blades website and it shows them playing an unnamed opposition away behind closed doors so it could be correct. The fixture is in between games against other league clubs.

It would appear the post I saw was correct. It just makes you wonder why the game wasn’t announced earlier if it’s been arranged since the beginning of June.

I'm presuming that the reason they have them behind closed doors is so that they can do their own thing with them without being restricted by the rules, the demands of a crowd and the need for a result. You'll get some IGU wazark booing when we go 2-0 down, or keep Oates on the bench, when all Clough wants is to get some minutes in everyones legs, and to change things around without having the pressure of putting on a performance for fans who have paid money.

It's only been about 3 minutes since the season finished, I'm sure you'll be able to placate yourself with the 20+ games you'll be able to watch soon :D

I enjoy pre-season games, they are a break from the death or glory league games, usually death

I'll go to the away games as normal but it's a shame there's only one at home. Maybe it's just down to the short summer break and we'll get 3 again next summer.

I think the work on the pitch is a factor as well. Had to not only re-lay the pitch but also try another draining system.

Perhaps it's Sheffield Utd that want to play behind closed doors. Probably too late to find someone to play an open match at this stage

Mansfield Town friendly with Sheffield United to be played behind closed doors
chad.co.uk, By John Lomas
Wednesday, 29th June 2022, 2:27 pm

Mansfield Town fans will not be able to see their side face Championship side Sheffield United in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Tuesday, 19th July.

No official reason has been given why fans will be locked out but Chad understands it is on police advice.

The encounter will kick-off at 7pm, though the club have not announced where it will be played.

However, the game will be available to watch in full the next day (Wednesday, 20th July) on iFollow Stags.

Oh dear. It's getting beyond a joke now with these clowns.

It wasn't us that caused all the troube in May... that all happened at t'City ground. Of course Florist will not have to move any of their games on police advice will they, they'll just tell em to cluck off.

How can t'plod justify denying the club revenue pre season?

fairly sure Mansfield lads contributed to the trouble in town center last time we had a friendly against them .

Football, the beautiful game.

You got huge rivals such as River Plate Vs Boca Juniors. Madrid Vs Barca or atletico, United Vs Liverpool, West ham Vs Millwall... all these tasty games but Mansfield Vs Sheffield utd in a pre season nothing game? Can't do it lads, sorry.

Can't wait for all the 12:30 kick offs next season
