Upset they got relegated to league 2. Championship and league 1 teams monitoring.

under 22 and offered a new deal so they are due compensation under the rules. Perhaps this is what scared off the clubs higher up?

Still feel we are 2 (proper) defenders and a striker short though !!

Broomo.....Out if interest, is Hartigan the player you knew about ??
Is he the signing that had hit a stumbling block ?

I'll answer. Doubt we'd have a stumbling block with him if we got him on a free. Heard he had a medical today and it was 100% done. We are still looking to bring a player in for a fee. Before it was Tom Nichols but our bid wasn't deemed true to value. Unclear as to who the player for a fee would be.

That’s not true, there would be a compensation fee involved with Hartigan given his age, so that could have been the stumbling block.

Ah, yes. I thought the rules don't apply if you are 23 or above.
Edit: After further inspection. He is 22. Apologies Mr. Musings.

This is where Stirk is playing catch up. He’s only eight months younger than Hartigan, but the latter has around five times more senior appearances.

Thought we had enough midfielders and that’s why we didn’t sign the lad from Scotland??

Yeah but then he started saying stuff like “if he’s a good player we will sign him, no matter what position they are in, we just want good players”

Think it would be better to hold out until the last week or two of the window and see what strikers become available. You’d think once players start to realise they’re not first choice and don’t expect to play much then the landscape could change entirely.

Don't know what you're problem is. I have most definitely not been wrong about everything. I have confirmed every signing. Also things change in football very quickly. You should be thanking me that I am here to confirm rumours or put an end to it.

I think we need strengthening at centre back and up front ASAP

We need a decent centre back. A clinical striker.

Genuine and not made up for bites....

Just drove past the ground at 10 to 8 with work, and Stevo was there (so a late one for him) going into the offices at the QLE with a bloke behind him pulling along one of those suitcase trolley things you'd take on as hand luggage.

Bloke had medium longish black hair slicked back.
Could have been a media bloke with his equipment, or it could be a new signing.

But something is happening before Saturday for Stevo to be strutting around at this hour in his blue suit and with his shades on.

I agree, the sooner the better but they were clearly struggling to sign a striker so have moved on to another midfielder rather than choosing to wait. They must know we need a striker or we wouldn’t have been chasing some previously

no he didn't.

He said:
"Ideally we'd like another forward player.
"The owners put in a couple of substantial bids for strikers. We weren't successful."
"I think we're getting pretty close with bringing another player in on a permanent."

It basically means we’re getting closer to a permanent signing and we want a forward player. A forward player will be signed then..

that's your interpretation, which may or may not be correct.

What he actually said was (paraphrased, but exact quotes in the Notts TV thread):

Ideally we'd like another forward player.

We tried. We weren't successful.

We're getting pretty close with bringing another player in.

No it means we can’t get the forwards we want within our budget so we will add a another attacking midfielder.

I thought Hartigan was not an attacking midfielder………..all very confusing. The plot thickens

According to Wikipedia he’s scored 5 goals in 166 appearances so I think it’s fair to say he’s not an attacking midfielder!
