I was looking at him and I'd forget he was there
I stand corrected!
His performance for them was better than when he was with us.

He scored 15 in 37 games for us. He was very good for us.
I agree with Vinnie, Hemmings would be the perfect strike partner for Oates. I was impressed with him yesterday. He somewhat bullied Harbottle in the second half, Harbottle really struggled physically at times I thought, thankfully the one header he did win all game was the winner!

And yet he and Tranmere as a whole barely had a sniff.
I hope we keep getting bullied like that every week.

Probably the best option in respect of players who could be leaving. I know some on here rate him highly but I think he has too many flaws. Additionally I don’t think Nigel will start him on a regular basis and he would be a bench player here.
I’d rather he went than Clarke, Maris or Lapslie.

If he could cross a ball consistently he'd be a real threat and an asset. He's a bit too inconsistent for my liking but I'd probably still keep him around.
Having said that, if him leaving meant we could afford Kieron Freeman, I'd snap your hands off for that.

Why on Earth would be switch to a formation with wing backs and then get rid of both our best attacking RWBs? If this is true it’s ridiculous.

Where's Hewitt going?

Oates having a slight knock already has highlighted the need even more so for another striker.
Swan will come in for him tomorrow no doubt, but he’s the only real forward option that didn’t start. We may have liked to rest Akins too but unless you go for Gale we can’t do so.
It’s a very real possibility down the line that Oates could have a knock, fixtures are coming thick and fast and we need viable options to rotate. At the moment the depth in that area doesn’t go deep enough particularly when they’re being utilised in other positions. It’s OK saying Bowery can go there but if he’s been playing RWB then he’s not going to be the fresh legs we may need.

I like the idea of Hemmings back. He was good for us under Evans.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

No questions about signings today. I would assume we’re done barring an outgoing, injury, winless run or unmissable deal.

Former loanee Matt Penney we are apparently in for.l a friend told me.
I couldn’t remember him so I researched him….
Left back, left winger and can play the ever populated central midfield. We had him on loan from Sheff Weds when he didn’t get a chance, he went back and played a decent amount for Wednesday in the Championship. Now at Ipswich, not considered first team, and wanting to move up closer to home.

Would be an amazing signing at this level but can’t see it. Macca is the first name on the team sheet and god forbid we play him CB again.

presumably nothing further on Kellan Gordon - didn't see any pre-season action - but it's so long since he turned out for the first team - he could be a different proposition now - seem to recall he made a few gaffs when we were going through a difficult time - then got injured - but he had deal more attacking flair than Hewitt - would be great to see him in action again

In a proper game. I assume he’s starting tonight, and hopefully puts a good account of himself.

I'd class a friendly against a championship side a proper game.
